Question about timing belt change. . .

In about a week i'm going to be having my cams as well as a new timing belt installed. Now my question is, is should I have the tensioner replaced as well? Is it really necessary? And if I do need it, I found three different things on mitsubishiparts.net. Is it the Tensioner, Tensioner adjuster, or the tensioner pulley? Thanks in advance. . .

tensioner pulley, it's used to adjust the tension. Replace everything that's on the recommended service for 60K. If you're going through all that work, you might as well replace everything.

+1. Just replace it all. Im at 52k and getting ready to do cams, so I'm just going to have them go ahead and replace the timing belt, headstuds, etc. as well.

You'll need the tensioner , the two pullies you found, timing belt, water pump.

Here is a kit from mitsubishiparts.net that I picked up for the timing belt change. Has everything including the water pump...will save you about $500 compared to the price from the dealership

if you are at 60k or above and doing the timing belt, wont hurt to shell out for a new water pump too. reason being is that you have to pull the timing belt to do it and pumps generally last 75/80k miles. spend the cash now to save more in the long run.

Not sure when they first posted that, I just did mine last month. I bought this kit and paid a shop $440 to do the complete install...about $850 total. The dealership quoted me $980 just for the parts let alone the installation...so going this route will definitely save you money.

Has anyone used a slightly underdriven water pump as a bolt on?

Changed my timing belt at 50K, reused the tensioner and pump due to budget. Waterpump, tensioner, alt, and battery will get replaced at 70K.
