My car has had over 340whp for over 32k miles. Never missed a beat on my 6sp. I think some people just need to learn what fluids to run and how to drive. I am still on stock clutch at these power levels and I get on it quite regulary.

Slamming gears is one thing but doing it at stock power is another. The tranny should hold up if the car is left stock, right.....???
To answer both of your posts, they cannot void your warranty unless they can point a finger at a mod or claim abuse from evident neglect. For example, if you came in with heat cracked rotors, black calipers, and/or scalloped tires, they can deduct that the car has been raced. Likewise, if they remove the tranny and see that your clutch is completely scorched, they can deduct that its been launched (or that you are a HORRIBLE driver )

Mitsubishi knows this is an issue, there is a TSB for it.

The 6spd is a weak POS, I have been through 3 transmissions now. The master tech that repaired all of them said that Mitsubishi is WELL aware of the problem. He is upset that they are not rectifying it by providing stronger parts, they are simply telling them to continue rebuilding them as they break.

I have only ever run Diaqueen Super MR fluid, which has been changed on a regular interval.

In regards to learning how to drive, I don't know about you, but when I buy a car that is BUILT FOR RACING I expect to be able to drive it without blowing trannys left and right. What does MR stand for? Oh yeah, MITSUBISHI RACING

I'm sorry I drive my care hard and its been tracked. I only run Motul estor based fluids and never had a problem. Problem with the 6sp is heat. There is multiple people that have over 280 plus 10 and 11 sec dragstrip runs no prob. If you have been through 3 trannies you indeed need to learn how to drive or find a different tech. Most the people that drop 4th are hardcore road racers. 6sp is far from weak its just not as bullet proof as the 5sp.

I have to agree. I have been giving my tranny a workout for over 2.5 years now and it still shifts fine.

And the production evolution was not built from the factory for racing. It was built to be a street legal daily driver, unmodified.

but if the rings have been breaking on MR's with the stock clutch, why would it matter if i had an aftermarket one? apparently the rings were breaking even with stock clamping load.

Ever since I read up on this issue I haven't used my 6th gear at all, its a pain in the *** to put in and take it out anyway. I've just been driving it like a 5 speed.

I guess I'll try my luck and take it in to the dealer soon and see what happens...

My JDM evo has a 6 speed, and it grinds like a ****. All JDM evos (except for rs) are 6 speed, and most of the ppl who are making good power are having problems. Ive had my 6 speed rebuilt twice to OEM specs but the grind comes back everytime. I even spoke to shep about having him build it, he said it wont solve the problem and that I should go ahead and get the 5 speed if I plan on making some serious power. The 6 speed is junk IMO.

Anyone ever get the TSB number? My Evo IX MR SE synchro ring just broke at less than 10k miles. Never dragged or launched.
