In the end, it came down to plug gap. The first suggestions I got in this thread were correct. I gapped my new BR8ES plugs to .019, and I haven't had a misfire since, and that's even with pushing more boost AND running at sea level. My autox runs were flawless, and my 2 drag runs with 115mph traps were flawless, so I'm very pleased. I never put in 7s and never switched to protruding tip, and I'm running close to 30psi (at sea level anyway).

Nice! Be sure to get some numbers on the new setup whenever you get a chance!

Car is still in San Diego awaiting the 2nd SCCA event (next weekend), then I'll bring it home right after and see about getting back on the dyno.

hey man, I didnt read much of the thread, but from what you wrote sounds like your having spark blow out. Do you have an HKS Dli2? if not a COP? Have you tried running bPr8es instead of br8es? With methanol on 32 psi on my 05 evo I was able to run a .028 gap on the bpr8es's after I added the hks dli2, but before that the biggest I could run was a .022.

Also if you switched from meth/gas to E85 the extra fuel might be causing the spark to blow out. You can try some sort of ignition amplifier AND tightening the gap but going smaller then a .022 shouldnt be needed. I'd try an ignition amp first. Good luck!!!

Steve, yeah, you need to read the whole thread. I made the same comment you did about going below .022, but I was wrong, and that's because of E-85. Protruding tips were not needed either.

I do plan to get an ignition amplifier, but things are working well now without one.
