Engine Sputtering at Max Boost

Hi guys, my evo 8 is sputtering when you boost reaches 19 psi and I have a check engine light on. No other symptoms. Could it be the spark plugs? I changed them a year ago for iridium plugs. Is that what the car would act like it one was fouled?

If the car has been tuned, it may be plugs and wires...
If the car has NOT been tuned, get a tune.
Check to see what code the car is throwing

if the car has not been tuned than it is def fuel cut... very common

get your error code read at autozone to see exactly why it is going off.

could it be the EGT system. But then again isn't it suppose to completely shutoff at WOT or high RPM.

If im in 6th gear at low rpm like 2k and floor it, it sputters due to to much load. That could be your prob but it did this after I installed my Hallman and uppd the boost to 23 pounds.

Misfire code I bet.

Change your plugs, year is a long time. Cheap fix you know.

Yea, I am a new evo owner and am having the same problem. At WOT, from around 4500-6500rpms, the car sputters intensely and if i stay on it then i get a popping sound. So after a little searching I came to the conclusion that there is a good possibility its the plugs and wires (which are still stock btw at 37k miles).

And my car does have the basic vishnu ecu tune, i believe the XEDE, and the guy I bought it from bought it that way as well and he was told it was all properly tuned. So today went and ordered new NGK iridium plugs and the NGK coil wires. So hopefully that solves my problem and hopefully yours too.

i was having the same problem....so i took it to my tuner and added a fuel reg and a new fuel rail with new plugs and got it re-tunned and that was the end of that problem.PROBLEM SOLVED....
