Brian Crower 272 vs GSC S1
Well I know you are looking at just these two cam combos but what turbo are you running and what type of power and all out gains are you looking for. Cause if you are gonna wait and you want a nasty cam, then get some s2's or just go w/ the s1's. I dont have them, but have a couple friends w/ both VIII's and IX's who have them and they pull well w/ very great drivability. One has an FP green on his IX and the other is a stock turbo VIII. I would personally go w/ an s2 cause they are becoming more common to run on a stock appearing turbo and they are just nasty cams.
Sorry if this is felt as cluttering the thread, just trying to understand better.
Honestly it is like comparing spam to steak! The s1's feel incredible and give fantastic response. Where the bc's just kinda feel like they are there to high rpms.
s'2 are another good option

Thanks for the reply's guys.
I am sticking with the stock turbo for now, so can't go too wild with the cams anyway (I have an evo 6 RSII).
The reason for this post, is as before, I have some S1's but there is a small issue with them, not sure if the problem is with the cams, or if it's the head. Either way I can't use them.
As there is none in the uk at the moment, i've been given a swap for some BC 272's and just wanted to see what the difference is in the power / driveability they give.

^The s1's are a superior cam compared to the BC, I would stick w/ some s1's then, if I were you or if you order some other gsc's then go ahead and get s2's, you wont be disappointed at all, I promise. Call Greg at gsc and talk to him about whatever it is you are dealing w/ whenever that is you find out.
I have decided the engine build will be finished off as planned and installed next weekend.
I will just use standard cams for running the car in (solves the issue of changing my map for running in too), and by the time the engine is run in, there should be new stocks of the S1's in the uk, so I will get them then, and fit them.
Thanks for your help guys.

I am so glad you started this post, I was leaning toward the BC, until I talked to 4wheelslide (my tuner) last night, he recommends the GSC S1 over BC. He said the GSC has better midrange, better for the street, if I go with the BC, he would suggest cam gears if I get upgraded turbo. 4wheelslide tuned many cars w/ BC and GSC cams, so if you wanna more detail, pm him.
I think I am gonna go with GSC S1 now after reading the project evo gsc cam review.

We did an install a few weeks ago on a IX that decided to go with BC272's. I was NOT at all impressed with them. Yes, seat of the pant butt dyno said a nice gain but not that much. Another Evo got S1's and there was a considerable amount of power gained on the butt dyno.
Sorry I don't have concrete evidence as in dyno sheets to show it. But I agree with 4wheelslide about the S1's having better results than the BC's.
I opted for Cossie 272's but those aren't listed in this thread so I'll keep that to myself.
Cheers-
Erich

We don't have dyno's to prove but the S 1's continue to dominate what people are saying is the best dd set of cams and that is what I am going to go with. Just too many people speaking highly of them including tuners.
Im currently running stock turbo, but im planning on going to a HTA GT35R. I decided to run S2s b/c i only feel like changing cams once. Im planning on installing them the 2nd week in april, when i get back from korea.
Ok guys.
Here is a pic of the cam fitted to my evo head.

This is what my issue with the S1's is / was.
My supplier has been in contact with Greg and he has told us that it is perfectly normal that they sit like this (the lobe on the rocker).
So I guess I don't need to wait now for a new shipment of them, I can just go ahead and fit these
