Not a problem, i am glad you understand everything and i will get criticized for everything that is not 100%. Thanks for putting up with everything and i can assure by the next time you come out, there will be no questions on how your graph turns out

Is there something wrong with this particlular dyno?(the one above 1st page)
I am just hoping to get the right tune .....
There is absolutely nothing wrong with my dyno. I cleared everything up already why the hp/tq was not crossing at 5252 rpm. Ted actually did me a huge favor by mentioning it and it enabled me to do some research and fix the problem. Check on page 2.

was actually referring to the jagged horizontal movement along the curve.

ran a few of these dyno's myself, though i cant say ive used any W the new software. but typically when i see that horizontal jumping it is because of too low of a gain setting on the tach box, or the converter box for the indictuve pickup was too close to a coilpack.

sorry if i came across wrong, just figured ive seen this so id toss it out & didn't give much thought to how it may sound. didnt mean any disrespect, just a bad habit of mine

No, thanks for the information, i appreciate it. I will have to check it out. You recommend farthest away from the coil pack? i know the calibration for setting the tachs are on spot every time so it can't be anything else making those jumpy lines.

i take it you were using the inductive pickup?

on the Tach Box there is a knob to change the gain for the signal. to establish a good baseline, rev the motor unloaded to 3/4 of max rpm & adjust gain knob so you have a steady tach signal.

unless they changed the hardware, there is a converter box if you will that is used to change probe type. this box will pick up EMI noise of it is too close to the coilpack or other high voltage wires

Wow. A thread with curtious critique and information that was actually helpful to someone. What a nice change.

Excellent advise, Thank you. I do have an inductive pick up that clamps down on the chosen wire. I also have a tach box that will match rpm to the c.p and car. I have been doing it this way on an idle. I have also tried bringing the car up to 50mph in 3rd or 4th gear to match rpm in the car and on the c.p if it did not work on idle. Even though i have not tested your advice on keeping the inductive pickup further away from the wire(s), i am almost positive what you said will solve the problem. On a side note, i did pull a few graphs from a 240sx, turbo civic, and a few mustangs and the lines were nice and smooth, most likely due to the wires being much longer...

I really wanted to do some testing today, but we painted the floor around the dyno and put down some black and white tiles to clean up the area. Tomorrow i will be on the dyno giving this another shot.

Yes, i am surprised, a lot of people on here usually point fingers and put each other down.

Yes, i am new to using this machine, i will make mistakes, i am human and thank you everyone who has been helpful. I will be having a test and tune day really soon at no cost other than a wide band hookup to give back to this great community.
