To my understanding, the Evo VII turbo is slightly different and I know there are minor differences due to the VII having the anti-lag hardware (a few of my coolants pipes have been different, a couple gaskets, ect...) and I have heard that the wire harnesses are different on the ECUs, but I haven't verified this myself yet.

I would bet the cams, rods, pistons are the same. From my knowledge the only major difference between 7 and 8 is the drivetrain. I don't think the evo has had much big changes, just drivetrain and turbo changes... until the 9 with variable valve timing.

The reason I think the wire harness is different is because Greddy offers two different options for the wire harness on the emanage, one for Evo VIII and one for VII. And you are more then welcome to come down and take a look at my Evo, I will be doing lots of autocrossing in the area.

The pinouts on the 7 are slightly different but crucial to the 8!
The a/c and fuel pump pins are switched around.
So the AEM for the 8 will not work untill you make the changes!

the AEM can be installed to the 7 only 2 pins to be switched. i am not sure but i think fuel pump and may be AC.

the engine and turbo are almost same. GSR evo 7 comes with ACD & AYC which are perfect.
