Fuel System

So I have been looking around about the double pumper fuel system and the AMS 1000 hp fuel system and want to know what you think about them? When is it a good idea to upgrade to these kinds of systems? I'm taking about HP wise...... Currently I'm running 880cc injectors and fuel pump fully built 2.0 stage 3 head and waiting for my AMS HTA 35r to make it to me. Sould I upgrade to bigger injectors and double pumper? Thanks for the input

600awhp and above I believe requires a double pumper or more. Im trying for 700awhp on double pumper and 1000cc injectors. I also have aquamist methanol.

Not to knock AMS i love there products but i have there fuel system but im no longer using it the way they say to. I had a failure with the relay and after that my car ran 60 psi of fuel pressure but the motor ran super lean then i ran only 1 pump and i had 20 psi fuel pressure but ran my target afr's my FPR went. But the way i fixed it was connect the 2nd pump to the ems and controled it by comming on at 15 psi of boost and works great!

I'd start to worry about a single fuel pump (Walbro intank) around 525-550 whp. Above that, you'll need more pump.

My current setup is close to what you're moving toward..... HTA35R with 880 injectors, headwork and meth (on a 2.2l though). I was worried just like you about running out of fuel. One caution with the double pumper..... when the second pump comes on line, you will see a rise in fuel pressure and you will need to tune around it. It's not a big deal, but will require a tune for it. I'd recommend making sure you have a way to turn on the second fuel pump when you want it to turn on, so that you can tune around it easily.

i would prob upgrade to 1000cc injectors but you might beable to get away with the 880s. also the buschur double pumper would work perfectly fine!! i have the same setup as you and no prob. with what i listed above.. i think the buschur double pumper is great and a very simple design as far as installing!!

Mellon is a good example of needing a double pumper

he was pushing 500whp through evoscan and was on a single walbro with a kenne bell boost a pump

it simply wasn't enough at that point

so my theory...500+ fuel system needs an overhaul

so If I'm using AEM to tune will I have better control over the fuel than using Evo Scan

My opinion is if you want to make over 550whp, probably better off going with some sort of dual pump setup. AMS's kit is nice but if you want something easier, go with buschurs dual in tank pump. I had it in my evo 9 and it worked great

I'm on the fence as to whether 600hp really requires a second fuel pump. It's been done for a while now without it, but at the same time a second fuel pump does make it easier to attain safely. I do however feel it's ultimately more dependent on what fuel you wish to use and your level of comfort in the duty cycles your seeing as the result of it.

Really for the price you cant go worng with the double pumper and tuning around the added fuel pressure isnt that bad with the AEM.
