Compressor = Aluminium, 68mm wide

All Evo 4-8 Turbos are twin scroll designs meaning that the engines exhaust is divided into two channels (see first pic). As the engine exhausts in pulses.. its supposed to result in quicker spooling. From the Evo 4 onwards, the Turbo spins in the opposite direction, i.e. Anticlockwise (hence the R in the turbo name). The Titanium Alumnide alloy used in the RS/RS2 and some GSRS (factory option) has less inertia and thus spins up around 500 rpm sooner. These Titanium turbos can be indentified by the A in their name.
hi...is it true that the JDM evo8GSR comes standard with the TD05HR while TD05HRA(Ti turbo) is an option? For the evo8 RS, does it comes standard with the TD05HRA?....so is it a proven fact that the "A" signifies a Ti turbine? Would the Ti turbo be a much better choice?

Hi, My E8 turbo comes with the code 'TD05HRA-16G6-9.8T' and looking at the above info, does it mean that if I swap out to the 10.5T hotside from FP, I will have essentially the TME turbo?

A little clarification on the USDM turbos:

2005 USDM Evolution 8 RS/MR (GSR probably the same):
TD05HR-16G6-10.5T

2006 USDM Evolution 9 MR (RS/GSR probably the same):
TD05HR-16G6C-10.5T

if it is from the evo 9 then the c would prolly refer to the revised compressor housing with the larger diffuser.

the ultimate turbo outta these is a mix match of a few of them.

you'd want hte 9 cold side with the tme hot side with the titanium internals. if you wanna get fancy after that you'd get an essex turbo ball bearing center cartridge assembly and then if you wanted to be experimental you'd try a white rabbit 5 blade compressor wheel and see if you got unbearable surge.

this would cost close to 6000 dollars... and a lotta connections cuz as i recall fp isn't just selling wr comp wheels and the 9 turbo is not just readily available and with the white rabbits running around the tme titanium internals aren't just being sold anymore. also essex is in the uk so that's money and time and a shot towards the stars to try and get the turbo fitted with the center cartridge.

you'd have a setup bad *** and unsurpassed in spool tho.
