warranty issue!!!

alright guys so i bought a 04 ww 8 with 32,000 miles on it like 4 weeks ago..i'm new to this but have done alot of research well last week my t-case started to whine well since it still under warranty i took it to the local dealership to have it replaced well after having the car for 2 day they said they would have to get with the rep about my warranty becuz they said that one of the clamps on the hoses that goes to the wastegate has been reused and they said it could of had a boost controller on it at some time or another i bought the car completely stock except 4 a turbo time this sound like bs to me just wanted to get you guys output!!!also if they dont warranty it out i know shepard is one of the best 4 the rebuild but i read that if its whining it will need a ring and pinion rebuild is this true ..

good luck getting mitsu to replace it.

if it is whining then your ring and pinion is toast.

look at shep and TRE for rebuilds, now would be a good time to throw in an lsd too

I just had a friend here in Houston go through the same thing. He brought up the magnusson moss act and argued that none of the mods (MBC, TBE, ect) could have possibly had anything to do with with the transfer case. He was very professional about it, did not yell or act like a jerk.

He is in the process of having a new TC installed under warranty right now, a week later.

I'd say put up a fight and make that dealership cover it. The excuse they gave you is the biggest bunch of horse dropping i have ever herd. I'm sure you can make them cover it but it won't be easy and don't take NO for an answer, good luck!

Yeah, the Magnusson-Moss Act works great if you need it. Just remember to nly use that as a drawing card if you need it... Always keep your cool, you get further.

And Remember, a Dealer does not have the power to void a Warranty, it must be done at the OEM Level.

good to hear your getting it warrantied. I just want to confirm with you guys i'm looking to get a 9 mr and is it true that the factory warranty will transfer over (whatever is left of the 5yrs/60k) but i wont get the powertrain warranty because its only for the first owner? is this true?

The powertrain carries over, but it is shortened. AKA you may not carry the previous balance. It is limited to 5 years or 60,000 miles as per page 4 of the warranty manual.

interesting i called a mitsu dealership and asked service manager to run the vin he said powertrain does not carry over, only the 5/60 does. Maybe the powertrain is included in that. is it better if i just call corp and find out from them
