Car Fluid Alternatives

My Evolution IX GSR just hit 30,000 miles. I'm gonna perform the manufact. Scheduled maintaince for the car. I called Mitsubishi to ask what other fluids I can put instead of their Mitsubishi Diaqueen fluid. They told me it can only take that fluid just to get my business but I would like to upgrade the fluids. Any suggestions?

there are many threads here
basically ensure u get a GL-4 for the gear box and a GL-5 for X case and rear diff
also ensure the GL-5 is an LSD approved oil or u would hear chatter from it
Popular choices are Redline, Mobil and Amsoil(what i use)

Almost everyone will tell you to use only the Diaqueen in the TC, TRE told me to put only that in mine after they built it.

As far as everything else, anything goes as long as it is under mfr ratings. I used 10w-30 redline oil for awhile, then decided it was a waste and used (still do actually) mobil 1 10w-30. Tranny I always used Royal Purple.

You can never go wrong with the OEM fluid.

diaqueen in the xcase and rear diff

the tranny is debatable but since you can't get oem tranny fluid from mitsu in a small size usually people go aftermarket (unless you get "MR" tranny fluid) which you can use in a five speed some have said it makes shifting even better

just something to consider

I went to the dealer and bought the bucket their technicians had been using from. That is a smaller size although the size may vary!

Recommended by John Shepard at ShepRacing.com/ShepTrans.com

Redline MT-90 in the tranny
Redline Heavy Shock Proof in the x case and rear diff
(Mr. Shepard also recomended oem Diaqueen as a solution)

I've been running the above listed Redline products respectivley in both a "Shep Built" tranny and t.case w/ Quafe LSD.

They don't even know who makes their fluids... If asked, I'd bet most would say "Mitsubishi makes Them" ... Fact is, they go out for bid every few years to the lowest bidder.

If you want the best, contact me. I have packages worked up for complete fluid changes..
