stock clutch started slipping on the freeway yesterday, how long after this will it completly go out, and is there a way i can adjust it to maybe get a few more miles out of it.

 

there really isn't anything you can do about it other then replace it. Hard to say how long it will last slipping. In one of my dsm's the clutch started to slip and lasted about 10-11 days before it was completly gone.

 

well i changed my clutch yesterday and it first started slipping in december lol, i have been granny shifting for months. but dont use my situation as gospel, it may last months it may last weeks

 

I changed mine before I found out that answer.

 

mine lasted about 2 weeks before it was almost literally impossible to drive.

 

When did it slip? If it was when you floored it in 5th gear at 2500 then keep the rpms up and u can probably get the clutch to last a few thousand more miles if u baby it. If it slips when accelerating normally in second or third gear then I would say your time is short.

 

you can raise it up a bit and just stay out of boost. My friends been driving on a slipping clutch for 2500 now.. maybe more...

i was in 5th gear at low rpm and built to full boost, 24 pounds when it finally slipped for a second and came back.

 

Don't do that. Downshift to fourth or third, even when you get your new clutch. No sense putting stress on things when you don't have to.

 

mines lasted 2 wks from the start of slippage

 

Mine was lasting for 2 months strong until the Mitsu tech drove it and slipped the crap out of it....then I ordered the new one the next day. I was driving the car like it belonged to someone else, so it would last me as long as possible.

 

Get a exedy twin. its the best thing for it..

 

Yeah mine started slipping. I'm just waiting for pay day to get lighten flywheel and new clutch. But my first lancer lasted a month when its clutch was slipping. Just baby it if you have to get some money together.
