HKS Blow off valve help

Is there any Evo owners out there who has an HKS Super Sequential blow off valve on their Evo IX MR that is "Recirculated." I know that VTA blow off valves is not the way to go but I was just wondering if a "recirculated" HKS blow off valve will cause any problems and can it still be noticeably loud? I'm looking for that sweet whistle sound that the HKS blow off valve makes but without any driving problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have an IX DV. No reason to upgrade. The stock one will hold boost better than that HKS thing.

You won't hear much DV noise unless you have an open element filter (cone filter). I run a Buschur air filter with the stock DV and you can definitely hear it, plus the turbo spooling. If you want the sound, just ditch the airbox and get a filter.

They sell the dual port ones that do both which i guess will run ok and you will get the load swoosh noise, but i've never used one so i'm not sure. But like the other two said, just get an open air filter. I have the hks suction intake and it makes a noticeably load noise with the stock DV.

HKS RS intake. dont waste money on a dual port valve. i used one, they hold boost fine and sound super loud but adjusting it is pain in the as... i bought a IX BOV instead... ur car already came with the best valve (for stock turbo)... with an intake the sound wont be super loud but still really noticeable...

This guy put it perfectly. I had to learn the hard way. I have an HKS SSQV which I still have in my garage. Trying to get rid of it now. I now run the stock dv with a cone filter. Save yourself money, headache, and regret.

the SSQ VTA is just not a good bov for the evo. If you get the HKS RS intake, you will here the dv. That or go with a forge.

I had an HKS SSQV on my VIII for a week and took it off and put the stock plastic one back on! I have a synapse synchronic in the closet to be put on just waiting on my new UICP from Buschur! BTW the stock IX DV is a great unit. However I have heard guys say they leak a little earlier than everyone thinks! Just get the Synchronic from Chris at No limit motor sports, they are a vendor on here.

The HKS ssqv is used on supras pushing over 30 psi. How can the stock DV hold more boost if it is rated at 27 psi?

It's been said over and over; just get yourself an open intake it will open the sound up for you. Right now your intake box is just restricting all your noise. As far as intake units you just have to look at what you really want. If you are looking for your power to come on early then get yourself a short ram air; but if the mid range is more important to you then look at getting a cold air intake, the pipe is longer therefore keeping the air cooler bringing power on later.

I may be mistaken then on the specific boost level the HKS SSQV can hold. I just know the drivability will not be what you want. Partial throttle leaking is what I meant to say. A stock DV does a good job with this, but the HKS does not. Stock DV HOLDS the boost better, but maybe not more boost. For something like a high boost meth setup, I'd go with a Forge DV.

hks ssqv boo!!!

I had it on a civic, no problem. RX7, no problem.
But i had it on my VIII for about 2 days. The surge and stalling was killing me, and yes i had it recirc'd. I have the JDM IX on now.
