I did some looking around and didnt find anthing on crushing the stock IX DV. I have a race gas tune and Im running 28 PSI. I would think the stock IX valve would leak. Any info???

Thanks in advance!

Mine is crushed on my Green and it holds to 27#. I have never tried going to 28#, but it shoud be fine. It'll make funny cackling noises though!

You know how to do this, right?

Well from what I have found is to put it in a vice and crush it to the nipple or something. I would like some pics if you got em. Also when does the crackling noises happen? Part throttle?

Put it in a vise and place a socket over the stamped end with the nipple. The o.d. of the socket that you choose should be about 1/2" smaller than the diameter of the head of the DV. That is, the socket should be about 1/4"-3/8" in from the edge of the DV's outside circumference.

Just judge where the spring is located radially inside the stamped head of the DV. You need to be way careful and not overcrush it. If you indent the thing about 1/8"-3/16" this will be sufficient.

The cackling(not crackling) noise is like a bizarre chirping when you let off the throttle between shifts at low boost levels. If you want to wait a couple hours I'll post up the best socket size whe I get home.

Im in no rush...take you time. I just need to do it cause I got a race gas tune from TTP and I am good to run 28 PSI. How much PSI do you think the valve will hold after its crushed?

LOL...I really want the APS valve...but I cant afford one right now. I would think the surge would be down low so I dont think it would hurt anything.

Kyle: Use a 16-17mm socket with standard wall thickness(not an impact socket).

EDIT: I've run mine to 27 PSI.

Crushed BPV is the absolute best compromise.

exactly!!! some people run up to 27 without it leaking. (non-crushed MR DV)

i wouldn't try crushing it till, you're sure its leaking at 29.

My IX did 30+ PSI with the crushed DV and it held. Only reason why I changed it was because it fluttered a lot when I was in a parking lot or something. But crushing it will make it hold a lot more then 28 PSI.
