Stock IX boost reading on OEM gauge?

I haven't driven my car for awhile (it was in storage and we had a long winter). I was wondering what the stock boost is on my IX RS as it reads on the OEM gauge (3 gauge pack in the dash). I think that my car isn't boosting to it's normal potential, but I could be paranoid. I posted other threads here in the n00b forum and I haven't had any help (yes I also searched).

What is normal boost levels as they read on my OEM gauge in bar? The highest I'm hitting is 1.2 bar and then it will taper to 1 bar. From my research that's pretty low. Shouldn't I be spiking closer to 19-20 psi (1.4-1.5 bar)?

I checked all my lines, hoses and clamps and everything seems tight. Thanks for any help.

OEM gauges are not very accurate at all.

It should spike to 21psi (roughly 1.4bar) then taper to about 17psi (roughly 1.1). Are you tuned? Do you have a MBC or EBC?

I wouldn't say "not very accurate at all". My OEM boost gauge is pretty much dead on. It spikes to 1.5bar which is exactly where my tuner set my MBC (22psi=1.5bar). As far as oil temp or voltage, I haven't tested or compared anything to them, if that's what you're referring to.

No my IX is completely stock. I do have a K&N panel filter right now. Before that I tried out a MAF adapter + K&N cone filter and I removed it. It seemed like I was hitting lower boost with that setup as well.

Since most of you think the OEM gauge is inaccurate, should I not be concerned?

4th should be spiking to 1.3 and taper down to 1.1 or less.

i found the stock guage to be about 1 PSI off from my (calibrated) JDM map logs,
and its completely useless if your spiking 22-23psi.

alot of gauges are off by one PSI (even expensive DEFIs), so its really up to you.

Maybe I shouldn't have tore that entire plastic tray off. I'm willing to bet that took longer than installing a TBE after looking at things last night.

Even if I am boosting a little lower than normal I guess that will all be irrelevant once I get a reflash and TBE right? (as long as I don't have any leaks)

BUMP...

I was messing around with the car tonight a little and it would peak between 1.2 and 1.3 in 4th according to the OEM gauge WOT from 2k RPM or so. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. It's just that I've got different people telling me different things. I just want to make sure things are right before I start modding my IX.

I'm sure it's normal to get lower boost if I'm going WOT and shifting quickly between gears. The engine can't fully spool up the turbo...right?

OEM gauge reads in kg/cm2 wich is pretty close but not the same as bar. My gauge reads 1.2 kg/cm2 then goes to 1, in fourth and fifth gear it goes to 1.3 and slowly goes down to 1.2 and pretty much stays there. I was told that the kind of fuel you use affects the boost you get, down here in Ecuador I get 92 RON. So I think both your car and gauge are just fine
