right now,

we are using varying degrees of clipped stock ix turbines.

we are going to clip a TME also....

the final version has a completely larger turbine wheel.

I'm in the same boat as you, but I still have the 5blade. If you like Chad's new turbo...then hell...it's exactly what I'm looking for (stock-like spool, maybe better? and the ability to hold boost well) I wanted to go 35r, but cant really justify that on my daily driver evo.

Good job CBRD!

I had a 20g-9-5 unit on my car and was very unhappy with the spool characteristics of the turbo. I sold it and did a different setup on my car....finding myself going back to the stock turbo every time.

This unit is perfect, it spools identical to stock and holds boost, exactly what I was looking for!

Everyone is looking for something different this just happens to be the exact turbo I needed....

Neither the 20G-9-5 nor the 20G-9-6 were FP Greens. Period. They both ran stock size turbine wheels. and were only like $1295.00

The 20G-LT (Large Turbine) was the FP Green. It obviously had a larger turbine wheel and a revised compressor. It had better response and more flow than the 20G-9-5 or 20G-9-6.

It sounds like you've settled on the compressor wheel. Can you let us know what the flow rate is?

And thanks, jbrown, i didn't realize 20-9-5 had a stock turbine wheel. Good info!

I can attest this turbo is amazing and it spools faster than the stock one did on my car. Chad are you posting the video from my car? It's a combination of Chad's genius and magic!!!

Aha! I haven't heard about this, now I'm going to have to make a trip up to CBRD and talk to Chad in person!

I was looking for a reason to go up there, now I got it!!

There are versions out there with different clipped turbine wheels, we are still waiting on the new turbine wheel itself. It is taking some time, and we dont do anything quickly LOL!!

our goal was a turbo that matched or outperformed the green, but at a slightly less price point, and mainly, that we had in stock, or could turn around in 2 days.

there are over 100 evo ix cores on the shelf to build them new, so that part is covered.

...

I think right now, the compressor wheel alone with just a clipped turbine is a great option for autox guys, because the part throttle response is just MEGA.

A compressor wheel change without a turbine wheel improvement is what the FP White Rabbit turbo was several years ago.

Are you saying that this turbo has a different compressor wheel, but that the turbine wheel is stock, or stock with a clip? Is the "final version" expected to have a upgraded turbine wheel?

If you don't have a significant improvement in the turbine wheel side of the equation, it's not comparable to the current EvoGreen, much less the EvoGreen HTA.

The turbine wheel will be bigger as stated a few posts up.

well, we have tested it, and against the cars we have had with greens, and 50 trims, etc..

so we know where it stands...

it WILL have a larger turbine wheel upgrade...

but, for now, this combination does perform extremely well, and is a killer autox setup...

more to come.
