AMSOIL MTG would be the proper product.....

You can see how various Gear Lubes rated in Independent Laboratory Tests

Perplexing situation... Run a product that is known not to hold up just because you already paid for it. Or, return it and order a Superior product that will be on your doorstep in a few days..

Hate bringing up an old thread but I got this info direct from RP and seems this thread should have the info when people are searching and reading through the info. out there. Maybe this is why peoples transmissions **** the bed from RP - using the incorrect RP fluid? Just cause it says "synchro" in it doesn't mean its always going to work or equal to other "synchro" named fluids out there.

Travis,

We recommend the RP MaxGear 75W90, part #01300 for your transmission in the EVO.
We do not recommend the use of the RP Synchromax - as it is the fluid viscosity of an atf and is not the correct type of fluid for your vehicle.

6 speed takes 2.95 quarts the 5 speed takes 2.3 quarts

I totally agree that just because it says Synchro on it doesn't mean it is the proper fluid.

I also hate to see people make their own "Cocktails" for their trannies and have no idea what they are messing with.

One bright fellow, from another forum, told me how he mixed AMSOIL MTF and MTG to get a consistency that he felt was what he needed... Not only did he NOT Know what he needed, those two fluids, although both "Synchro" Fluids, have totally different additive packs that cannot be blended together without causing problems.

Why not take a look at some tests that were performed by several of the Top Laboratories in the US... Which just happen to include the RP Max Gear.

Page 19 will show the final results but please page through and also notice how Royal Purple has a Higher Viscosity Index than 90 to start out with (95) just so it can try to be in grade as it shears .
