Royal Purple oil
I drive a 2008 GTS Lancer and I purchased Royal Purple 5w30 synthetic oil and used it for my last oil change. I want to know if this oil is one of the best, I purchase each quart for $7 and change. I changed the oil myself and the oil looked purple.
I want to know if I paid a lot of money for oil that really isnt that great or is it what the magazine says it is. I have read stuff about it and it says it has been proven to raise HP and TQ. HP and TQ is one of my concerns which I like but will it lubricate my inernal parts better than mitsubishi's platinum oil?
I know the recommended oil for our cars is 5w20 but Royal Purple only sells 5w30 at least from what I saw at pep boys.
I think Mitsubishi uses mobile 1 platinum for their oil changes, I know its the platinum grade but not sure if its mobile. Should I just left them change it with their oil or should I used royal purple? is there anything better?

Please recommend something I can use for a long time to come, should I just let Mitsubishi use their oil of choice? I think they know what their doing.

i use to drag race my elcamino and always used lucas, it was just common knowledge around the strip that lucas was best for our cars. thats a totaly different aplication though and honestly, i would never show up there with my lancer to just be embarraced. (slowest car in our group is 12.0 sec)
i was planning on using lucas for my next oil change but i already use mobil 1 so im not sure if its ganna be worth the extra 2 bucks a quart.

Yeah, there was a thread a while back about synthetic oils. I agree, I'd go with amsoil or mobil 1, whichever is easier for you to get at a local auto store.

You guys should check out this site, I know they are talking about the evo x, but it's and example for royal purple syn oil nonetheless. http://www.royalpurple.com/drag-sport2.html

Of course Royal Purple is going to quote a favorable test on their website. I've heard too many horror stories about Royal Purple to trust them, stick to a more reputable company that is big into motorsports if you actually want an oil that can stand up to that kind of stress.

The dealer used Royal Purple 5w20 on my last oil change... I asked for synthetic and the tech guy got this. No complains so far, but I will probably ask for Mobil1 or do it myself next time.
I'm not racing the car so this oil might not be the best for me.
