I was talking about the height of the honda compared to the miata. Sorry I should have made that clearer. I'm not sure if it's the same or taller than the Miata or not.

Figured it isn't any issue, but Westco confirmed you can mount agm any position. Should mount laying on its side where the spare goes if you are comfortable just going with tire repair items. I'll be looking into that more. Would prefer to have the rest of the trunk free. Prev owner had a wire running for a sub that I don't need.

If I remember correctly there's only 1 Miata battery. If not, I think I used a late 90s when looking up.

I've been using Miata batteries for the past 5 years with great results.
I'm on my 2nd one in 5 years.

Works great with my XS Engineering intercooler piping.

Here is another thread on this topic: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...a-battery.html

I also have an album in my profile that has pictures of the modified stock tray I made years ago.

^ Hey TalonKev thanks for the info before.

H22gordo My only concern on the miata battery is the recharge durability that I have been reading about.

These AGM miata battery have to be trickle charged and used at least once a week right? otherwise they damage or die

How often do you guys use your car with the Miata battery?

My original Westco battery died when it was a few months old. I needed one right away so I went to Napa and got one that day. Westco sent me a new replacement battery within a week, so I now have 2 batteries. They are both over 2 years old now. My Evo is driven maybe 2-3 times a week during the summer, and doesn't get driven at all in the winter. I normally put the batteries on a tender when not in use. But they both have multiple occurrences of being stored for months not hooked up to the tender without any problems.

Well I test fitted a honda battery group 51 not 51r and it fit great my only concern is that I had to cut both side supports on the battery tray to make it fit and I fear that it will slide forward to back upon acceleration and decel.

I guess I will have to go miata. What is the lowest cca our cars need?

I have an optima running in that position...

It is about 1/2 of an inch higher than boot floor, so the original cardboard doesn't sit right... but otherwise it is OK... Great battery, especially for people that do not run the car regularly...
