Yes there a vendor spots left for the shootout.

Yes, a solid rear axle has been allowed in Q16, always. As I stated already, John's car has been accepted as it was left AWD with a MITSUBISHI 5 speed transmission. I've been around this since the very begining and have seen all this stuff take place and work its way out already. RWD stuff has been shunned by many, I know, we've built quite a few of them.

We could have easily went RWD with this project and put in a real transmission, this would have let us go 7's the first pass of the day and just progressed from there. I didn't want to go that route again as a lot of people do not respect the change to RWD, that is why we went this route.

Some of you should be really careful about how vocal you are because if history is any indication of what is going to happen it won't be long before what we did is copied by some of you.

My input on what should be considered an EVO and not considered an EVO is simple. I am also basing this on the last 20 years of DSM/EVO racing I have been involved with.

As long as the car is still AWD unibody, uses a 4G63 and a factory transmission case then it is considered a DSM or a EVO. It's pretty simple and the past has dictated that those things are what is accepted.

Listening to you all argue doesn't mean much to me today. We are going to run the car and hopefully be fast. If some of you guys want to not consider it an EVO that's your issue. If you come to a shootout though you may end up lined up next to it and IF you lose I can gaurantee the announcer doesn't say, "Buschur won but only because he had a different rear end."

Have a good day.

I loved watching FWD hondas go low nines on stock honda trannies. Amazing. I stopped watching when they switched to american trans and fibre bodies to go faster. No longer a Honda platform.

I watched shepard go faster and faster. I lost interest when I saw the american rear end in the car. no longer a mitsu platform.

I watched brent rau go fast in his awd talon and loved it. Never cared about what he did with fibre body RWD contraption.

I guess you know what my opinion is on putting an american rear end in a 5 year old evo. obnoxious. I guess its okay for him since its so important to stay on top of the charts. I'll keep watching the white car. I just lost respect for the black car.

The "platform" is the very heart and soul of a car. Thats what defines the car. The drivetrain it came with from the factory.. Once the trans or rear end is changed to a different manufacture the heart and soul of car is lost. why not allow the engine to be changed if anything goes in racing?

I thought import racing was awesome years ago. I went to many events. Then it started to get big. NHRA stepped in and made the rules. What it turned into was american made cars with import engines. whatever. I havent been to an import event in years. I just wanted throw up looking at the cars.
I feel the same way you just summed it up better I understand Davids point of wanting a more reliable car which make sense but from Mitsu love i agree with 94awd

I also didnt read much of this thread but did happen to catch this.

I would expect an onlooker to lose interest when it broke 6 rear diffs in 2 races and looked like a pile of **** on the track. I did what I had to do to not look like a joke and yet still try and retain the respect of having an awd. The solid is not a performance enhancing mod it is a reliability mod.

You've gotta be kidding me, do you live in a communist country or what.. are people not allowed to have opinions about things?, I think the EVO Community is better off if you sell you car if that's the retarded attitude you bring to the board.

In regards to the "drama" I say run what you got, it's a EVO I don't think there should be some "Special kids group" just because you have a bigger rear end who cares.. your smart for doing it.. who wants to replace something 10x when you can do it ONCE, the right way... this should have been done a long time ago the only reason people are giving 2 SH*TS is because this board is like a GANG wars everyone has to have a side and no one can see eye to eye.

This is better then the presidential election. Hell even Jshepard himself had to post 16 post in 5 years. Dont worry shep I dont care if your car is power by a space shuttle engine running a carbon fiber tube frame, racing down hill on a sunday during a total eclipse I will still respect you for what you have down for all DSM'ers besides when it all boils down to it us average joes that dont own shops can always rely on shep for an affordable well built trany or any other drive train part.

Exactly what I was saying in my post a few pages back, thanks for chiming in John! Reliability vs a couple of tenths, I will take the reliability any day of the week!

Many years ago, I was given a test by an independent company. The purpose of the test was to evaluate Management Techniques and the ability to properly analyze problems. After the tests were given and the results were in, I was told that my strongest attribute was being able to remove my self and my own opinions from a problem and evaluate it from a neutral standpoint. I say this for only 1 reason, to re-enforce what Indy said. As I've read every single post, I've seen the worst of nearly everyone come out. If this represents the current Evo Community, I also don't want to be a part of it. I've been as competitive and supportive as anyone. I've now seen 'Professional Shops' and their employees become 'Non-professionals' in their postings. It's often the same 3 or 4 people that want to jump into a thread and begin the crap. I'm also tired of it. Either grow up and accept reality, or get the hell out of the profession and find something new for a hobby or livlihood. I say this without any reservation and my comments can be backed up by those who know: As of a week ago, before this crap started AGAIN, I agreed to finance a MAJOR investment into the Evo Community. Even as late as today, I have been in conversations to bring something HUGE to the PARTS BIN. Based on what I keep seeing, I would have to now agree with Indy's friends. Some things just aren't worth it. I'll just have one-off stuff built, keep it to myself and give the pissers one more thing to call, NON-OEM. Good luck.

By the way, this is my one and only post in this entire thread.

Holy crap 28 pages of pure bashing, this is insane.

Hope its all sorted out cause it does not help the rep of any of the shops involved. Some of us that are not biased do not care, but others oh my this really went ahead of any bashing I've ever seen in here.
