The more gutted the car, the less it's like an Evo. We all know that there are better (cheaper and more reliable) ways to go 7s or 8s with other platforms. Fox body Mustangs in that range can be done much cheaper than pushing an Evo into those times. It's interesting to watch what a few shops have done to get there, but it's not really very close to the Evo that was the starting point.

The true streetable Evos are the really remarkable builds, because they retain the sports car characteristics we bought the cars for in the first place, and yet dramatically improve on the power and performance.

My .02

I omitted my earlier post back when there was just 4 pages. But this falls in line with the way I see things. But even this line of thinking is a slippery slope. Who is to say what is too much and what isn't. Making the kind of power alot of these guys are making. You do what you have to do. Is it my personal cup of tea? Not always. Do I prefer Dave's street car to a gutted crap box that runs a half second faster? No. But then if said crap box is the fastest evo there is... what then? Is there no merit to having that title as well? (I am not alluding to any vehicle in any way speaking purely theoretically and without sarcasm. Intention can get muddy on the internets.) See how easily it gets tricky to nail down?

Personally, fair or not fair as being categorized in this thread. You should all be applauded for your innovations & progress. Whether they are finding another piece of interior you didn't need, dialing in a different rear end, or whatever you're doing to go as fast as you are.

And that I mean genuinely to all of you hauling @ss.

I agree that tends to be the case (but not always), and that is exactly my point. This is where the real challenge lies.

So what we did 9.2 @ 153 on a street legal GSR Evo 8 Weight 3,275 and drive back from Tampa to Orlando Why are you hating if you think you could do it go ahead and step your game up we have the 9.2 sec pass from dec.2006 since that no one has be capable of braking it !!! GOOD LUCK on the shootout Because ProccoEvo is coming badder than ever.

PD

The Black evo is NOW SFWD so it CAN NOT be consider all mitsu chasi/drivetrain to compete in the fastest mitsu list anymore !

Here are the rules for NOPI & NHRA http://ndra.nopi.com/2005/ndra_pro_rules.pdf OR http://www.nhra.com/tech_specs/sport...C_Rulebook.pdf
* Rear ends: O.E.M. bolt in differential casing allowed. No aftermarket substitutes that are not a direct fit application. Examples (8.8”, 9”, or 12 bolt). If vehicle comes stock with I.R.S., vehicle must stay that way for competition.

This rear end change obviously is a major alteration to the original platform. All other evo's currently considered in the fastest evo class running maintain IRS and can be run in Time attack or your local autocross/rally without major changes...isn't this what an Evolution is ALL about. EVOLUTION....wouldn't that mean going forward...this new OUTLAW car should be called a creation. You cannot re write the very obvious rules by altering the suspension geometry which will ultimately lead to better 60' times and reliability and not expect to be classed by yourself. Although there are no set rules...there are obvious limits to design change.

Let me say this....I think the rear end change that Buschur did was kool and from a reliability stand point a good move. I think it would have been a better move to go with a stronger IRS and there would have been no arguement.

I say we nominate the guru's here on the forum and let them decide or take votes if this should be considered in the current class. We are not kids and are a pretty large community....let the people be heard.

I don't think this should be decided by the person running the list although I'd like to thank him for taking his time to take this on.

Last time I checked this is EVO M.....let the peoples vote count

I am 100% sure I can get the car into the 10's with the same mods, weight, etc.. I am still on the stock wastegate actuator and blow off valve. I will be buying the FP wastegate actuator and Forge blow off valve and be heading back to the track soon!

Thanks David for an amazing event! I had a great time watching everyone run. I can't wait for the DSM shootout.

VERY Impressive!

I knew you weren't, but I could see how some may interpret it that way. I just wanted to explain the circumstances. And, yep, that's his name. I just call it the black AMS built EVO to avoid confusion

The BR idea is brilliant. To make an Evo faster, that is all about and Buschur knows how to do it. We built our Evo's to go faster and faster, big turbos, lighter cars everything counts, but i think and this is my personal opinion there should be a margin.
