Waste Gate Actuator Adjustment?? ... anyone?
Waste Gate Actuator Adjustment?? ... anyone?
i need to adjust my waste gate actuator can anyone explain how to do so... i was told to turn it in 2-3 turns. i dont know if that means back it off then go 3 turns in for a factory setting or just turn it in 3 more turns to make sure its not leaking pressure to early. i assume i need to do this from under the car by taking off the underpanel.... help me out please. should i be at 20 vacuum at idle too with stock cams?
i think thats right i'm just maxing out at 17-18 and tapering immediatly to 15-16 psi ... the car feels wayyy slower at wot and wierd at around 2-3 thou rpms in first gear. no boost leaks except through the crankcase into the valve cover which i was told is normal that during a boost test it will slowly dwindle down from there
any insight on these adjust ment and reassuring what i know would be great thanks

make the arm shorter
you do it from the top , you have to remove one or two of the heat shelds
shorter arm should = more psi
Ive got mine where its 1/4" to short
you have to use a little muscle to make it go back on ..

Shorten arm such that you have to pull on it a little in order to slide it onto to wastegate arm. That "pull" stretches an internal spring, increasing the preload on the actuator.
How many turns you need will be a matter of trial and error. Nobody here can answer that.

if i adjust it 1 turn, 2 turns, will it make my car run higher boost or will it seal for a higher boost level. i dont want to adjust it if it just raises my boost level ( like a MBC lets say)
my car only hits 13 psi and it seems like my wastgate opens up and lets out all my boost. theres no boost leaks i tested it so i have no idea what the problem is.. could it be the wastgate?? thanks to any replies in advance.. sorry for highjacking the thread

Excuse my ignorance but aren't you controlling boost with the AEM Tru Boost. At least I thought that it was an EBC. Sorry for the dumb question.
