^^+1 there is no point in revving real high since it's not needed in a 2.3 and yes it's basically building the motor since you're changing crank, pistons, rods.
regarding weight, I think the manley I beams are lightweight and strong enough for the bill. buschur spec je pistons/ i beam rods will be what i get next. hope the op actually gets get a kit after all these posts.

the exact i beam rod im using all your specs are there hommie. JMS likes Je pistons but i been a fan of wescio and they been around for a loooooooong minute in tons of built setups with great results so i stuck with them. i hope you get oem 100mm cranks thats all you really need. Acl bearings and arp main studs to complete your package. No since in getting a Br motor if you can get the parts new and put together cheaper then 3550+core i know i did and i kept my core. In fact i only had one part that required me to get a core and would not back down and thats was mike@awd on the br doublepumper i have not even got yet because jms is making me a custom double pumper system. So i got another pumper hanger etc sent it to mike ages ago and still hav not collected

i did order a stock 4g64 crank for a hot price and acl bearings and have the main studs. but despite my low price build i don't know who to let build the motor. i will still require the block balanced assembled etc. where can i get a 2.4 block for cheap. even one with 50k or more miles is fine.
