Question about exhaust...

I have a Megan TBE set up and i'm just wondering if the car will run ok on it without a tune? Any difference in throttle response from just this mod. Will there be any check engine light issues ? Sorry, just wondering before I do this.

The car will run just fine with out any tune. You will get a check engine light if you are running with out a catalytic converter. A spark plug non fouler will fix the CEL in most cases. If you have a CEL on for not having a cat, it will not affect performance on Evo's.

The link above has a good how-to with pictures.

Basically you use it to extend the o2 sensor away from the exhaust stream. There for the o2 sensor picks up less emissions and CEL is not triggered.

go to murrays and buy 2 "spark plug defoulers"

The brand I bought was "HELP!" - they were part number 42009 I think?

Take a 1/2 inch drill press and make the hole bigger in one of them, the "nose" of your oxygen sensor should be 47/100's of an inch big, and if you make the hole 1/2 inch it will be just enough to barely fit when you screw the drilled fouler on top of the REAR oxygen sensor (the one under the car) When you are done with that you simply screw the oxygen sensor into 2 foulers, with the one closest to the sensor being the one drilled.

This works 99.999999% of the time if you did it right.

If you can't do it, I'll do it for you.

Here is my pictures of my install.... I have all Megan exhaust parts and the good thing is there is a bung on the catback, and the midpipe. I used the bung on the catback for the o2 sensor because it leaves more room for the wires.

If you can't do this mod then you might as well drive stock forever because this is so simple, a monkey could do it. Just make sure you tighten up the muffler bearings before you drive and test it out.

BTW, I drove mine for months without a tune, then I got a tune just 2 days a go. In my mind you are wasting your money doing mods unless you get a tune, it made a 50hp and 75ftlb difference in my car.

The tricky thing you have to worry about is sometimes the downpipe will tap on the cross bar brace because the stock downpipe has more clearance. after I installed my DP i was getting a rattle noise and it was this. I just shimmed the cross car bar down about 2mm by putting some washers up there to net it down lower and this works good.
