tranny/t-case fluid question (no, not about what kind to use)

Okay, so I need some quick help....I have 2 questions.

1. How much fluid does the t-case take (03 Shep t-case with lsd)? Evomotorsports.com says .58qts., shop I'm taking my car to says 1.3qts.. So I just need to know how many quarts to buy and to make sure they don't overfill it.

2. My tranny only had 2 quarts of Redline MT90, so the shop topped it off with another quart but of Redline 75W90, is this okay?

Sorry for the newb questions, but I did search and couldn't really find an answer as to how much fluid to use. Thanks in advance!

1: Just buy two quarts. Doesn't hurt to have extra. And they can't really overfill the T-case. When it starts to pour out the fill hole, it's full.

2: Not 100% sure, but I think, yes, you should be ok. Though stock fluids are HIGHLY recommended

My TC took about 0.6 qts.

I hate filling that bastard cuz you have to go soo slow and use a thin tube pump.

The TRANS took about 0.75 gallon but i would def make sure the fluids are all the same type/weight.

Just tell them to fill it until it starts to come out of the fill hole (car needs to be level). When the t-case is full the fluid will be level with the fill hole.

thanks for the replies, as long as they can't over fill it then I should be okay on the t-case. As for the tranny, MT-90 is what Shep recommended. I thought about going with the super diaqueen ( the six speed kind) but couldn't find enough info on it. The MT-90 is a GL-4 gear oil that's 75W90, and the 75W90 is a GL-5 gear oil. I would think since they're both 75W90 it would be okay, but am not sure since ones a GL-4 and the other's a GL-5, and to be honest I have no idea what that means. Anyone else have any input in if it's okay to mix the two?

GL-5 fluids have additives that help it cope with high pressures/shears (like in the ring and pinion in your t-case)

yes you can go higher in a rating, NEVER LOWER. its ok to mix them
