Do I have a problem????

I purchased 3 quarts of Redline MT-90 for my transmission and 2 quarts of Redline 75W90 for my differentials. I went to the Mitsu dealership to have the tranny and differentials changed with the Redline.

The Mitsu service guy drained my tranny and diffs.

He then "accidentally" mixed 2 quarts of the 75W90 with 1 quart of MT-90 I was there when he did it and he wasn't paying attention. He said it should not be a problem. He filled the differentials with the mixture. He had a quart of the "mixture" left because the diffs only take 2 quarts....He added the remaining 2 quarts of MT-90 to the 1 quart of the "mixture" and put that in for my transmission

Is there going to be a problem running this "mixture"???

He is correct. If they are going to threaten loss of warranty over not using Mobil 1; they should replace your fluids with the proper mix and pay for the materials as well. They did it wrong; they should redo it.

I talked to the Service Manager while I was there and his comment also was "it shouldn't hurt anything". I haven't yet asked him to buy me new oils and replace them for free. Something tells me he'll give me a hard time because there "shouldn't be a problem" Is there someone over his head I can get ahold of?!?

Re: Do I have a problem????

Hi, apparently the MT 90 is a thicker fluid than the the 75W-90, so in this case you are looking at a mixture with different coefficient of frictional properties for the proper synchronization and proper shifting over the different temprature ranges.
In your case I will suggest before going back to the Mitsu dealer call Red Line Synthetic Oil Corp. at (707)745-6100 and ask them to send you a fax with info on the use of both fluids and their opinion on the mixing both fluids (how does will affect the car performance). Then go with that info and ask them for a refund or free change of the fluids.

Thanks

Andy
