FYI there are compressor maps of the EVO CNC finished and coated magnesium wheel as well as the regular cast aluminum version.

Funny part is they stopped their testing on the mag version at ~135K RPM.

Why?

They knew the mag wheels explode above that RPM.

The mag wheel should not be considered a performance piece, it WILL fail when pushed.

It all depends on what you want - the mag wheel is meant to be a quick spooling turbo specifically for rallying etc. - not an HTA35. So I'm not too surprised that it fails when it's overboosted - that's not what it was designed for really.

In the same vein, I reckon that the White is to the IX RS turbo as the Green is to the IX MR turbo....while being 100% reliable of course

Robert is it possible to get the white with the Titanium Aluminide turbine wheel? Do you think there is benefit and what would the added cost be?

 

Robert, I guess I could throw one of the new White's on the car and see what it will do. At least we have "known" numbers from previous dyno runs on the Green. Might be interesting.

So the Green creates more heat at the same boost level? I would have thought the reverse.

 

That sounds like a great idea. Of course because of your reputation we know that the results will be the most that can be squeezed out of the White. It would also be nice to know how the feel of the car is with the White vs. the Green.

 

On a smaller turbo like this, it would be pretty important for the ambient conditions be very similar as the choke flow limit of the turbo will be dramatically affected by air density.

I know it's asking a lot, but a three way shootout of an IX, a Green, and a White on the same car, same dyno would be great.
