If only the picture was working at work. I'll check it out when I get home and toss the numbers in my compressor flow map plotter.

By the way, if anybody wants to get a good understanding of what affects compressors, build your self a spreadsheet to plot out the compressor flow. All of the information is out there and there are a lot of compressor flow maps available if you look hard enough. I think I'm up around 40 Garrett maps, about 20 mitsubishi maps, and a good chunk of Holset and Borg Warrner maps. Just edit the maps down and set them as a back gorund image in the plot. I'm sure there is a better way to do this with excel using a macro code, but I'm ME and not CS.

Now if I could just get some good turbine maps I could get the itterative solver to work to get a good approximation of turbine back pressure and wastegate flow.

If you drive in a fashion to achieve mileage you shouldn't suffer at all. BUT.......99% of the people I drive around with looking at live data and logs use their right foot like a drummer, up-down-up-down-up-down constantly when there's no reason for it. its a bad habit many people have.

I have been curious... with a 2.3L and a smaller stock frame turbo that is going to be in boost a lot of the time, would your gas mileage suffer (of course besides the strong temptation to punch it frequently) even if you are driving it very gently, since the turbo spools at such a low rpm?

Only problem is unless you use a stock factory car with a factory boost curve you're driving waaaay outside the meat of the comp map. Once everything is turned up a notch or 3 trying to plot is somewhat useless. Difference between a performance oriented unit and a factory unit is the performance unit will work better 'on the edge'. It won't make a damn bit of difference if the center island says 80% or 70% when you're never there. There's a copy of the TME 8 comp map on our website, it actually goes farther to the right than a 9 does, plot the data on that and see just how far off the map it is already at a 2.7 PR. The factories never show you the far right side where all the RPM lines are basically vertical and near the same flow rate, operating in this area they consider 'not normal' but we all do it. But if you look at the data on the 1580 I posted this 'wall' becomes very clear- it WON'T do any more. Its done. Every compressor/cover combo has this.

I have a Evo 9 going on the dyno this thursday with a FPwhite on it. Before it had a stock 9 turbo. I will have before/after overlays for the curious.

91 octane, OEM Ecu, Ecu-boost, intake, cams, TBE no cat
