Ported Head Gains...

Curious to see what a port and polish would do overall to and evo. I know it opens up the head with more air flow which is what you want. Still a newb but from my understanding from other cars you dont see results on the dyno with a P@P. You'll see a big differance when comparing it to somebody with similiar mods on a highway pull. Anybody that has had P@P done to their evo please comment on what you thought of it....

mods: hks 280 cams, fidanza adjustable cam gears, a custom tune, 3g reserive lifters, a ported exhaust manifold and a 10.5 hotside 20g turbo. the head also has a mild port and polish done to it.arp headstuds, cometic headgasket, 255 fuel pump, 850 fic injectors, fpr, act hd clutch and flywheel, new water pump and timing rnr ic piping, Buschur racing turbo back exhaust w/ test pipe, hallman mbc, jdm xi bov

i doubt many people just do a before and after with head work. usually it accompanies some other significant changes.

Back in 04 when i was in Fl a few guys i knew had somewhat the same mods non 20g's one had the TME turbo and the other had a ported 03 stock turbo.

Anyways both cars pickup a good amount power one car picked up 23whp the other 17whp. Here is the thing about it both cars where retuned and every aspect of the tune was changed. So you really cant get solid numbers or put a number to it becasue its not a bolt on where the car will just adjust to the change you have to go in and smooth everything out with the tune so its safe.

That being said im sure they both could have picked up the power by just retuning the car in the first place. I would say dont get your head ported untill you need it. If you do a search you will find the stock head flows very good and can support very high hp if supporting mods are in place.

Nobody can say a "ported head" gives x amount of power. Everyone's port work is different.
Overall if done correctly you can't loose hp.

Or get a stocker and send it out to be ported. Just because it's "ported" doesn't mean a whole lot. Someone could of done it by themselves and its' crap.
Or you could send it out and say you want a race port or you want 2 hours of porting etc, this way you know exactly what's done to it.
