9sec9/OKIX's EVO, ROUND TWO!
Things are progressing well. If all goes well we should be on the dyno by Thursday at the latest. Even Indy had to put his touch to the car by ridding the car of the Ghetto tape and adding his aerodynamic Carbon Fiber panels. I've got to admit, I liked the look of the tape, but the C/F panels look pretty good. I'm sure they're more aero than the tape, but....
When Indy was installing them, they could be moved right/left, but the outside curvature would be off a little. It could be 'tied down' with some good WHITE GHETTO TAPE, but we know where that gets me. We'll be watching the air temps closely to see if theres a noticeable difference.
Scheides, were doing some cam testing/tuning and the car was using some water so I wanted to get it checked out at the same time. It appears as though when we made the 9.99 pass, the head gasket was pushing water between the 1,2 & 3 cylinders. I could hear the motor go 'flat' in 3rd and 4th, but wasn't sure why. I just don't take chances, so I scheduled another trip to Wakeman to get it checked out. So far, all looks good. Even though the motor only has a couple of passes on it, I asked David to pull it, disassemble it again and check everything out. Clearances and everything appear perfect. Even the bearings looked like it hadn't been run. Headgasket failure looks like the culprit. Now, I wonder what 'coulda/shoulda/woulda' happened with proper cylinder pressures. My new backup motor is going in the car and the one that went 9.99 is being freshened up. I even told DB to change the bearings. We're there, may as well do all of it new.

Yep, it's the backup that you and I discussed a while back. After this one is re-freshened up, It will stay here for future use. The new motor being installed will have the new FP5R cams. LITTLE different head, but basically the same Stage 3 head as before. We're trying to find a track that will be open this weekend. Norwalk has a 3 day event, so it may be Dragway 42.

yeah its the time of year everything is starting to slow down hear as it gets colder and colder. Upsets me but it will give me time just to save money and come out stronger next year thats the only reason I look forward to winter! other then that it sucks I would love to be able to play with my car all year round-JOEYD
We'll still be able to race into November in Oklahoma. In Texas, I think we can run even in early December. I'm hoping for a trip to Florida this Winter. I've wanted to go down there for a year, but we take care of my Mom who has cancer, so it's difficult to run a company, race a car and make the trips to Wakeman too. Only me or my wife can be away for any length of time, but maybe, just maybe we can get a Florida trip scheduled.

pretty soon my local track Memphis Motorsports Park will be closing up shop so I've got to hurry up and get mine back together if I want to get some runs in at least on pump gas with the new shorty/head/cams. There's an 1/8th mile track that stays open pretty much all winter to make a few bucks but it's short and an hour away. I still go out there when I'm hard up for some adrenaline. It's the track that's in my sig video. They don't do any prep at all, there was rubber marbles all over the place and it was 30* out there so launching was interesting
Thanks Mike. David and I have been sitting here shooting the bull since the day's mostly over. Tomorrow, the new engine will drop in with a few new changes. Very happy knowing what the issues were on the water loss and cylinder pressures. Now I know that the 9.99 would have definitely been better and the mph could have been higher. Now, like SPIN2GST said, were ready for some lower 9's. It's going to happen!!
