I will never ever recommend TRE, sent me a brand new whining TC and would not honor warranty.

Shep rebuilt my tranny and very happy with it.

TRE service after they receive your parts is poor.

ShepTrans has always communicated better and we've had good results with.

I'm a TRE fan. If what your looking for is a great tranny, its the only way to go! We have one in our car and I dont think we could go as fast as we have without one. TRE was around long before Shep. Not putting down Shep at all, In fact he is a great guy. In my eyes the guy that has been around the longest has gotten a chance to see alot more potential problems and has had the chance to fix them along the way.

How long is the turn around?

And would this rebuild get rid of the high speed lock out?

Read the thread man JRod said 2 weeks as long as parts are available and they arent swamped with work. I never really heard of any complaint with BR as far as response time on anything

Alot of times gear lockout can be related to your clutch rod adjustment. Unless its an ACT HDSS then well noting will fix it

Yeah I seen the 2 weeks... But like you said they might be swamped....

I bought the car not to long ago and that must be the clutch that is in it....It looked like a ACT clutch.

Cool

TRE has been my transmission/x-fer case/rear diff shop of choice. Road racing an Evo in a wheel to wheel series like SCCA can do a number on any car. Jon has built me a driveline (minus the engine of course) that withstands the abuse and comes back for more. He's been very accessible and willing to spend hours on the phone/email if necessary. He has even gone out of his way to rebuild and return a transmission to me in a matter of just a few days. His work is second to none and he does what is necessary to make his customers happy. I just recently sent my rear diff in for service and had it back in three days...mind you UPS took 2 1/2 of them. BTW that rear diff mod is AWESOME!

Never done business with Shep, so I can't compare, but why would I ? when I've had so much success with Jon and TRE.

The best thing to do would call to speak with Daniel. I do not know exactly what his schedule looks like.

I've worked with TRE in the past and have had good experiences with him. Jon's a really friendly guy who's customer oriented. He won't hesitate to spend an hour on the phone talking about your needs and how transmissions work. Very helpful, knowledgeable, experienced and highly recommended.

He contributes a lot of knowledge to this forum regularly and it is because of what he has divulged, we came to know the strengths of the 5 speed and 6 speed trannies. He has helped build a bunch of trannies for road racing EVOs which are the ones the see extended abuse.
