Whose fault is it???
i think you need to address to this man's two requests first before going any further
Why did shop A blow the motor? lol Is there solid proof that the plug fell into the cylinder and how the heck does it fall into the cylinder?? lol that lil idy bity thing cant really do that much damage could it? lol
well if shop b only sells him plugs and filters why would they know all thats done to his car and that he is about to tune it at another shop for 40psi. for all they know they could be giving him a plug that works fine on stock evos.
if you want a high horsepower car dont walk in anyshop and assume they know anything about ur car, everycar is different and no one ever has the same mods- sign up for a evoM account and do your own research
so i say its the owners fault but the tuner doesnt know what hes doing either, cause that is some serious detonation

For sure tuners fault, logically if you are gonna tune someones car for 40psi, you wanna make sure everything is incheck especially the plugs. Most tuners I have seen have several sets of plugs on hand. No matter what tuner fault for not doing a tuners job.
You guys are missing something here for some reason.
The spark plug is fine, nothing wrong with that spark plug in the EVO9, nothing at all. I've tuned a TON of EVO's with that plug in it and have tuned them over 40 psi, over 650 whp. It is NOT the spark plugs fault. Someone is grasping for complete BS to blame for the fact the car blew up when in fact it was the retarded tuner who was tuning the car not doing his job.
Who was the clown tuning the car?
Do you know how often I check the spark plugs in a car I am tuning to see what they are? Never. If the car is misfiring or has an excessive amount of knock I will pull them out. If it has NO knock I might pull them out to make sure what I am seeing on the logs is what is actually happening. Other wise there is no reason to check the plugs.
Someone screwed up tuning the car, the customer is not to blame, the spark plug is not to blame. The tuner is who tuned the car until it detonated itself apart, it is his fault and only his fault. End of story.

Steve,
You may not be allowed to here on evom, but there is some poor guy that's gonna get tuned by this guy again with the same results. It may be beneficial for us all to know at this point who the tuner was.
Whenever Dave or some other tuners have good results, it's all over this board. Why would't it be right for guys to know who NOT to bring their cars to?
Just my .o2.

The big difference between shops is how they handle a problem when they have it. You have shops that blow people's stuff up, break things, provide poor service and leave you hanging. Then you have shops that step up, fix their mistakes and try to make up for a mistake made that may have came across as being poor service initially.
IF we have something happen to an engine or maybe a mix up on some parts shipped we step up and take care of it. That's what keeps you around with good reviews for 20 years.
I have found out privately who the tuner was that tuned the car. It's up to the topic starter to post the information if he wants to. I am not surprised at the situation at this point, I have no personal experience with the guy but have heard very little good about his abilities either.

Listen, I've gotten alot of pm's asking who the tuner is. I cannot put that info out there. Regardless of how it seems, this person has still tuned many cars without a problem. IMO he possibly made a mistake, For all we know, maybe he took the car for a ride and the hose popped off the FPR and thats what blew it. I really dont know. But the tuner is not a horrible tuner, he just made a mistake if anything. And the shop in question is not a bad shop either, they're good guys they dont deserve to be bad mouthed or black listed over this. From what I hear through the grapevine, they are either completely taking care of it, or at least 1/2. I dont know the details, but I'm not going to post up or tell anyone who they are. I made this post anonymous for that exact reason. If anyone else happens to know themselves, I also ask you to not say. This is still a private matter between the customer and the shop. The customer has seen this thread from what I hear and obviously has his reasons for not posting anything up.
