Test pipe or High flow cat...what are you running?

Was wondering how many people are running the test pipe and what the fine is if used on public roadways. I would also like to know if there is a significant difference in whp.

supposedly a lot of people dont think the Test pipe gains are huge.... which in turn for some makes it not worth it.... they would rather run a high flow cat.... from things i have seen, a test pipe of course makes power, but not much more than a good HFC.... i run a TP because i like how much better the car sounds.

as for the fine... out here in socal... its pretty deng big.... and an automatic ticket to seethe State Ref

I like Buschur V band all you need is jack stands and a wrench and you can change out the test pipe to a HFC whenever you want. Its about 300 dollars more then a TB with a test pipe though.

i have a Perrien HFC and a test pipe. i had dyno'ed the car and found that with the test pipe my midrange was bigger than with my HFC. topend didnt really change either.

heres my graph

i usually run the HFC for DD and the testpipe for track

I run a test pipe on the track and a high flow cat on the street. It is an easy bolt on/off.

The car is faster with the test pipe, but it smells like hell and sucks to be behind my car when I run the test pipe.

Driving with the test pipe all the time is not worth the potential fines IMHO for the minimal gains for the street.

Test pipe. Why run a cat when some piece of white trash is just gonna steal it while I am in the pub? (Seriously, this is a big deal here at the moment!)

I think you all know where I stand on the subject. Is a test pipe really worth the minimal hp gains and smell over a 100 cell cat? Personally, I don't think so

So, the easy answer is get a MIL.SPEC 100 cell cat and get a lot of hp without a lot of stink

Get it tuned so it's not running so rich, end of story.

FWIW I'm running a HFC as of now but soon to be a TP.
