swap front lsd into 03 evo 8 trans??

Would it be better to swap in the front lsd and get an lsd transfer case, or would I just come out better geting an 04 rs trans and transfer case? The trans that is in the car now only has 20k on it and was raced very little.

The trans is the same, no need to swap it. A new LS t-case will run you around $2500, so don't go that route unless you grenaded yours. The best thing for you to do is get your t-case rebuilt by Shepard @ sheptrans.com $1100 to make your t-case better than a new one with LS, or ~ $1650 for a rebuild with a quaife LS with a lifetime warranty on the diff, but it seems the quaife is on back order atm. If you search Shepard you'll find he's the Mitsu trans messiah.

Where are you in GA? I'm down in Savannah, the Evo capital of GA. Army guys love their AWD sedans.

The front LSD can be added to your current xfer case. Its a fairly straight forward process. I did it on my 03 and it was one of the best mods I did. The ralliart front LSD can be had for less than $1000 from TRE. I see them on EBAY every now and then for much less.

Jon,

That is an excellent price. BTW Gears helped me out many times and I highly recommend his services over the other folks.

The non-rs 03/04 is missing the front LSD and that is what everyone is replacing. The center diff on the older cars is a 50/50 split but is lacking ACD. I prefer the way my 03 felt over my 06 with ACD.

What were the key benefits you saw on your '03 since you say it's one of the best mods you did? I'll be getting the upgrade, and from TRE, but I'd like to hear what you have to say. Thanks!
