fp green

Can I do the fp green upgrade with the evo 8 turbo? My turbo has the 10.5 hotside. I heard that I can't do the fp green with the evo 8 turbo so I'll have to get the evo 9 turbo to do the fp green.

The evo 9 turbo has a larger compressor housing as well as the 10.5 hotside.

I think they also have better chra (bearing wise) then the evo 8 turbo has as well.

FP will not take your evo 8 turbo as a core for a green... so yes, you will have to get a evo 9 turbo as a core or just buy one out right.

That is NOT correct. They will take an Evo 8 with 10.5 hotside and convert it for around $999 as opposed to an Evo 9 for $899. The extra cost for the Evo 8 turbo is for the bigger compressor housing that needs to replace the 8 compressor housing.

Will the power outputs for both turbos be the same?

If they change out your VIII compressor housing for a IX compressor housing and install both the Green's compressor and turbine wheels, then one turbo would be the same as the other. So, they would each be capable of producing identical power levels.

Just search FP Green or 20g-LT. They are the same turbos. It has been covered a million times.

As soon as I hit "Post" I realized that I should have searched first, to avoid getting the standard "its been covered a million times" line. But thanks anyway.

I had sent a Evo8 turbo with the 10.5 hotside and compressor cover and they told me that they can not be converted, because of the size of the bearing cartridge in the Evo8 turbo Only True 9 turbos can be converted . ( thats what FP told me atleast)

To use a core to make a FPGreen or FPRed model turbo you need to start with a EVO9 core. THe EVO8 core has a smaller bearing housing and compressor housing so none of the EVO8 parts except for the turbine housing may be reused, making it a poor starting point for a Green or a Red.

Converting to a Green is $999 and a REd is $1099, and the turn around is a few weeks.

This is the first I've heard of this! I thought the VIII and IX turbo were identical except for compressor wheel and compressor cover!?!?
