cams decisions decisions

I know there are tons of similar threads but, I am debating between GSC S2's or the kelford 272's based off of the recent AMS test. I will have a stock block and will be bolting on a FP red soon

Just off of opinion what would you guys recommend? Being on the stock block i am looking for around 500whp

Any insight would be appreciated

The IX FP4R's have been on backorder for a long time; I ordered a set in May and got sick of waiting so I canceled my order. Talking to them it sounds like there is no end in sight either.

After the FP4R's my next pick are the Kelford 272's.

Great choice for the VIII's; I wish HKS made a MIVEC 280 intake cam.

Either the Kelfords or Cosworth are far better than most of them out there. If you have the money I would buy the Cosworth. There is less than a handful of companies out there that actually make the cams. Everyone else buys it from one of these companies. The best grinds are going to come from the original builder of them. Both of these companies make cams.

Be careful, as this statement is unreliable and presumptious at best.

The best grinds are far more likely to come from those who invest the most actual testing and development time into developing grinds for a single application, regardless if they own a cam grinding machine or not. An individual or group who documents and tests various grinds for one type of engine will develop a much better working knowledge of what works best than does a company that arbitrarily grinds cams for many engines.

GSC S2s... then again, my opinion might be bias as I have them on my car and love them!

Sorry. The exception would be companies that put alot of testing and dyno time into the cars and have there custom grinds. Not an unreliable source! The two companies I have stated have the best cams available for these cars. They have done their homework as well!!
