Hitting the rev limiter

I understand the revlimiter is there to protect the engine, hence want to know if its safe to hit the stock rev limit everytime you shift all the way up to the 6th gear. Is it a normal practice, normally i dont do this, i was just curious to know.

Well its a lotta stress on the engine but as long as you dont do it everyday all day you should not run into problems. I have my rev limiter set at 8k and have taken it uip there without problems.

Plus redlining it every so often is good to get all that carbon out of your engine

Well since it's probably way past the top of your powerband I think it's kinda pointless and dangerous. I would avoid doing so if possible but it happens once in awhile and chances are it wont blow your motor, but the amount of money an engine rebuild cost you might not want to test it.

1) Out of power band.

2) Hitting the rev limiter can happen. Try to avoid, but some autocrosses it has to happen.
