Ic pipe size question

so i was looking at ets' site and looking at their intercooler kit, and noticed you could choose the size of the ic piping. if i were to order it should i just stick to the 2.5 inch piping or go with the 3 inch? what would be the benefits/losses with going 3 inches

Hello,

Thanks for checking out our products. How much power are you planning on making? If you plan on making over 700hp, the 3.0" piping would be beneficial, if you plan on making under that amount stick with the 2.5" piping.

What is your current turbo setup?

Thanks!

Michael

i plan on sticking with the stock turbo. im pretty new to evos. i just sold my subaru for one, and have some leftover money for parts. and im definitely planning on buying your dp back exhaust, by far the most impressive system ive heard. would i benefit from an upgraded intercooler though?

Hey manofhonor,

Is your car completely stock right now? If so, FMIC is not the best upgrade for you to do just yet.

Start off with a TBE as it's one of the best mods you can do and should be one of the first. Other things to check out would be the Walbro Fuel Pump, boost controller, and DEFINITELY a good tune.

For more info, check this page on my site out:

Thanks for the kind words, if you have any questions regarding the downpipe back exhaust let me know, i can help you with that as well. The stock turbo can definitely benefit from an upgraded intercooler.

If you would like to read the difference between the bar and plate (ETS) or tube and fin (stock unit) check out this intercooler tech article on our website.

The LICP (lower intercooler pipe) is another restriction in your setup. Check out this picture.

Thanks!
