from exedy's website:
12. Road test vehicle and never abuse a newly fitted clutch. Allow 750 mi break in and always adjust free travel on your new clutch at 750 mi and 1500 miles. Thereafter, adjust at every 10,000 miles

i prefer the hard break in on everything.
that being said for the exedy - you can't shift hard for the first several hundred miles, because it will grab too harshly - putting too much pressure on the springs, retainer clip, and the rest of your drivetrain. Usually takes quite a few hundred miles of good slipping before you can beat on it safely.

I have a exedy triple cera-metalic going in next fri. What confuses me about companies wanting clutch break in is this......How many drag cars have 500 miles on a clutch before they see the track?.....NONE. It takes 2000 quarter mile passes to have 500 miles on it.
I plan on driving the car like i normally do considering im making less than half the torque the clutch is rated for, so i dont think i will hurt it.....

Thanks for the input, ya I have some different feelings about it. Im many ways I think that it should be fine doing half and half and in other ways I would hate to rebuild it too soon
its allot of work to do you know. Ya its going to be interesting I think I will make a post on it when I start doing it all.

I put a twin disk in Camaro a while back. The break-in instructions were pretty funny. For a street application, it recommended 500 easy miles. For a race car, it only said "Pull up to line."
If you want it to last, break it in. I have one too, drove it nice for 1000 miles while waiting for the motor to break in as well. Have about another 1000 miles on it now, with about 3 hours of dyno time, 20-25 street launches and 2 launches at the track. No problems, only difference is it makes a humming sound when its getting slipped in first, but still drives the same way it did 1000 miles ago.

Thanks EVO8LUVA, I must admit that once you start to launch your car its hard to stop doing it, so I hope to have many nice launches out of my clutch. I think the key will be preheating it. I hope it will last for along time also, at least 60,000 miles and that's of course with abuse but who knows time will tell, only thing to do after this one goes it to think about triple upgrade and if it is worth it.
