2.3 35r 880cc stock ecu

i have a 2.3 stroker with a afi 35r turbo kit cosworth 272 cams and 880cc injector's my stock mas-air-flow sensor is about a foot away from turbo and im on stock ecu.... the shop tha built the car said i can only drive my car if i get a stand alone from aem cause i cant tune my car with the stock ecu to drive around and race on

is that true???

i was told by another shop i just need to make a extra bend or stretch out the intake pipe to help out on bogging and jumpin of rpm's and that the tune on here is just wrong thats why the car is not drivable and able to run with out bogging out and dieing at lights....

if im able to still run this set up and stock ecu some have said i can is it true or should i park car and save till i can get a stand alone but if i dont need a stand alone i dont want to get it unless i have to as its the only way....

Plenty of people run the stock ECU with your same setup. You just need to find someone to tune it. There are lots of vendors here that do it just search around.

I'd get the MAF at roughly the same distance from the turbo as it was on the stock setup. That's important.

It will be a lot easier for the Stock ECU to idle if the MAF is moved away from the turbo. I had the same issue a few years back. I installed a 35r on my car and it refused to idle. We were baffled for a few days, the finally added an intake with longer bend, and moved the MAF about 8 inches from the original position. After that, it idled just fine.

FYI, I ran a setup similar to yours with the Stock ECU. Good luck!

A cold air solution should work well. My MAF relocation was an interim solution that I never changed. It placed the MAF / Filter towards the upper right side of the Head. Still made good power though.

Im sure these days, tuners should be able to tune with the MAF close to the larger Turbos, but I left mine in the relocated position.

It might just be the tune, can't say that I've tried my stock mas that close before though.

yeah and az 91 isn't very knock resistant...you've got a nice setup so it should be pretty efficient and make good power.

OP, I dont have any photos of my old setup, but I have a short video. Take a look. You can see how far up I had to place the MAF and Intake in order to get my 35R to Idle (I'm running a 37R in the Vid, but I used the same pipe as with the 35R).

Good Luck...
