Don't spread rumors. Do you have any proof of this claim? or are you just repeating something you heard or worse, just making something up?

Amsoil is more certified than any oil made, for a summed up single reason. It's the best.

But depending on budget and need, any synthetic is plenty capable for most needs.

Check out Redline too. That's what I've been using for a long time.

If mistu, or any manufacturer for that matter, wants to void your warrenty for an oil related failure, they can if you are using Amsoil or any other non-API certified oil. Perfectly legal.
Amsoil came out with the first API certification on synthetic oil 30 years ago. Currently have 19 API certs on there oil products.

Spend the money if you want but Mobil 1 is more then enough protection for a Evo.

I run Mobil 1 in my formula car where oil temps are over 280 degrees and when my engine is torn down, looks new.

Pay the $20 to become a "preferred member" or a dealer, and get it for $1.50/quart more than mobil1 instead of double. Buy in bulk to save on shipping. Also, their filters are top notch. A friend w/a diesel and amsoil sent in his 30k mile oil for analysis and the report came back with flying colors. He talked to one of their representatives and they said it appeared the oil was good for at least another 30k miles. That is enough of a testimony for me (I guess since it was real life not some story on the internet...which it has now become )

I'm just another joe on the net, but when I show those I race with I have 10,000 hard race miles on my ZX3 with Amsoil and it comes back with superior test analysis results from a 50,000 mile old motor, they're shocked. Then year after year I keep doing it, and I've not ever had an engine let go, good luck, partially I'm sure, but the test results and my experiences with amsoil have saved me a huge amount of grief, at least in my opinon.

Now I have seen some motors let go with Amsoil, but those I know well enough to get the details, we've have found poorly built motors or some other weak link to be the culprit, though some people got a bad taste in their mouth when the motor let and blame the oil, especially when the engine builder does too, becuase only good engine builders stand behind their motors and will admit to a mistake they made.

I've even seen engine builders screw racers out of national championships by doing things they shouldn't which gets racers DQ'd during teardown, but that's another issue.

Either way both oils are good. One is better, but either is plenty of protection for average Evo.

Not spreading rumors - look at an amsoil bottle and look for one of these two symbols:
http://www.ppcouncil.org/apimarks.htm

You won't find them, but rather something that looks similar. E.g.
http://www.amsoil.com/products/prodp..._qt_600pxh.jpg
Why? They have not paid for the API certification testing.

Unless something has changed recently this was not on any of the amsoil containters when I bought some two years ago.

Amsoil was the first API classified synthetic. The classification is made by what materials are used to make the base stock of the oil. The API certification is different.

If you read all the details from those links you'll find that those markings allow only one certification to be listed, and their oils often exceed many of the certs. So since they can't list them all according to the API rules, they don't use the markings and instead in plain English list all the ones they exceed.

Amsoil is certified beyond what the API has a designation for, so they just don't have an acceptable marking to use.

Happy Hunting..

He runs a Formula Vee. Since the engines are air cooled on hot 90 degree days the oil temps can get as high as 280. Our cars typically run in the 220 - 260 range. In the 5 years that we have been racing with Mobile 1 we have only lost one engine. The problem was that the rods had been lightened to much and we spun a bearing. Definitely not Mobile 1's fault.

sorry for bringing back an old post but I'm lookin at throwing in AmsOil 0w-30 in my e9. recommendation is m1 10w-30... I wouldn't think going to a wider range of oil and a superior synthetic would be a bad idea, but it may be overkill for a 350whp evo. But then again its better safe than sorry. Thoughts?
