transmission problem, fifth gear

Hey everyone

I have not been here in a while and hope I post this in the right place.
I have problems with my transmission but only in a very narrow area.
(First I should say that it is a 2006 EvoIX SE with 5 gears).
All lower gears work fine but when I shift from 4-th to 5-th from 6500rpm's on it makes a short grinding noise like you can hear when you don't step on the clutch pedal all the way or let it out too early. I do everything fine. Clutch pedal is pressed all the way and even if I shift very slowly it still grinds. If I shift from 4-th to 5-th anywhere under 6000rpm's it works fine.
It worries me and is annoying but thankfully I don't need to be at those speeds a lot but as soon as I have to pass 2 or more cars, 100 mph show up pretty quick on the speedometer and then shifting into 5-th it happens before slowing back down to 60mph.
I just called my service guy yesterday and he said I should call back this afternoon and he will talk to his mechanics. He said he really can't let anyone out with me at those speeds. Do you guys think if anything has to be done to the transmission it is covered under warranty? I bought the car new and have it for 2 years now and the warranty lasts for 5 years.
[I drive very cautios. I did 23000 miles so far and my brakes are still as new (checkbox after service is in the green) and I am on the second set of stock Yokohama tires.]

Thanks a lot!

EXACTLY...the same thing happened to me...the guy was on the phone with mitsu. for over an hour, i guess cuz of my mods....ive got all the bolt ons except cams, and they still covered it under warranty...they had to replace the synchro in 5th, along with the ring....heres a lil tip for ya...while the warranty paid to have the trans. out, i went ahead and installed an act clutch and had the flywheel resurfaced for 80 bucks...saved me over 1500 by doing that...so if u plan on upgrading ur clutch, do it and save yourself a sh*t load of money

Well, he told me mitsu is cool with intakes and exhaust...an untrained ear cant tell a walbro from a stocker, and the boost controller was the blitz i color, which im assuming he thought was just an electronic boost gauge...and the intercooler and piping really doesnt matter
