Clutch Engagement ?
Clutch Engagement ?
I have 18K and I am still on the stocker with about 350awhp. Lately my clutch engagement has been really high, like 1 inch from the top. I tried lowering it but it's notchy as **** and 2nd and 3rd crunch pretty bad. Not how I want it
The stocker still grabs hard and doesn't slip at all in high gear pulls. What is going on here. Synchro's maybe? If so bring on the Shep and Evo VIII 4th. Either way I am going to run this trans into the ground if its going out.
Stock Evo IX 5sp with Redline MT-90.

If the engagement is getting higher then the clutch is probably wearing out. Be careful because they tend to go away fast once it starts slipping, so save up your coin and pay close attention. The extra crunch when adjusting it down a bit is probably from the clutch being warped, therefore requiring more adjustment to get adequate air gap. If it is syncros, no amount of adjustment will fix it, but if it is clutch, then adjustment will take care of it. If neglected, then the syncros will go out prematurely from the added abuse of the clutch not fully disengaging.
This is exactly what happened when my stocker went out at 70,000 miles at about 320whp. I had to let the clutch out almost all the way before it'd grab. I knew it was about shot and finally started slipping at an auto x...
I went with the ACT street disk and prolite flywheel and LOVE the combination!
