Cams Cams Cams Kelford vs BF

So I have been doing some reading and found that so many people like these Kelford cams but how do they stand up against the BF 272 cams?

I am currently running the the BF cams and really like them. If anyone has fun both sets lets get some input.

i prefer the BF272 cams over the Kelford if you are not on stock ECU.. For stock ecu the Kelfords make great power and idle quality is good as well.. I run the BF's in both my Evo's and they make great power all the way to redline!!!

If you base your results just off this test then that would leave some some to wonder. BF cams have not gone up against the Kelford cams so you saying you are going to go buy kelfords for that reason is ignorant.

Myself..... I do run a stand alone

Wow....I can't believe you're so upset about how another man decides on a set of cams for his own car Maybe you have emotional issues. Good luck with that.

The grinds may be different, but if I understand things correctly, the cams are all made in the same place. Kelford, GSC, Cosworth and BR are all made by Kelford to the specs of each manufacturer.

I just got my BF272s in the mail yesterday. They wont be in the car til spring tho. Im gonna break down and send the car to BR. I cant beleive Im not goin to be working on the car. But ive never done a HG with o-rings. when they do them all the time with the stg 3 heads.

Im sticking with the stock ECU and MAF on the BFs. I think I can get them to idle well enough. If not Ill hit up Mellon. Then if all else fails I ll go FCON and have Dave tune it. Im not feeling the AEM for some reason.

EDIT: I think I know who makes these cams do to the markings on them. I will not say who tho out of respect for BR but they dont appear to be made in NZ.

Mellon, what is your opinion of the BFs idle on a well tuned flash? Do you have a breather on the vavle cover aswell? Sorry for all the Questions.

Seriously, what the hell crawled up your ***? AMSs test was not entirely inclusive, but it certainly narrows things quite a bit. If you need to base your choice off of one piece of data, that test would be it.

it didn't idle well with the stock ecu/mas I had to do an extra trick to get it to idle pretty good.

yes I have a breather on the valve cover

The point is you can't base this off one test; and here is a little grammar lesson for some of you out there.

Definition of Ignorance
1. The condition of being ignorant; the lack of knowledge in general, or in relation to a particular subject; the state of being uneducated or uninformed.

So no I don't have anything up my as#. I am trying to find out or give others the knowledge to know what is the best for them.

Actually, it's grammar.

I'm not sure I understand either Dustin. The AMS test is unequivocally the most scientifically sound cam comparison test ever posted in these forums, and is probably the best cam test in my recent recollection. Martin knows enough about how cams work such that he went to unusual lengths to make it as objective as possible, and it illustrates much of what we discuss with respect to camshaft design traits and how they pan out in the real world.

It's unfortunate that the cams sold as "BF272" were not part of the test, but many others were, and the results speak for themselves. And while most here who read that test do not have the benefits of AMS' ported head and other hardware that will exploit the cams' full potential, at least they have a very sound basis for making a purchasing decision.
