2.4L Twin Scroll HTA turbo setup

Hey guys!

I got a 2.4L with a turbo kit on order from ets. Its a twin scroll t4 hta35r. Now im coming from a single scroll pt67mm turbo and I just wanna make sure I made the right decision on turbo size.

I was hitting 34psi at 5100 on the 67mm. Now the reason to go hta and twin scroll is to get the best spool up but im afraid of losing top end because of the 2.4L. I need a turbo that will spool quick but not run out of breathe with the twin scroll.

Should I go with:
T4 hta35r
T4 hta37r
T4 40r

Suggestion on hotside sizes?

All these will be a twin scroll variant.

My goals are to make around 700-720whp with the best spool possible.

Any help please!!!

Here is the turbo that I made my mind on the GT4088r

they have that new gt3788 coming out. Do that or the gt4088. Full-race just did a car with a 2.4l and gt4088 and those results were incredible. You should look that up. Also Geoff said that an HTA is a mismatch and wont perform well on a twin scroll.

scorke I really respect your opinions. Could you go into some more detail as to why you choose the 40r?

yup...its a 35r from hell.....i am gonna get the single scroll though but the front facing turbo setup, like what the BR cars are running. I cant fu*king wait. Mine is also gonna be a built 2.0L. With the 2.4 and the the HTA 86, now that will be one mean mo'fo. Check this out: http://store.forcedperformance.net/m...de=NTGT3586HTA

If your going twin scroll and already have the displacement why not go with a turbo suited to moving more air?

To make 700 on a 35R framed turbo you are going to be pushing it to the ragged edge, Full-Race, TedB, and Mark Shead over on MLR have had lots of good luck going with T4 twin scroll housings, I want to see another one succeed!

With the TS 40R you will have minimally more/ maybe similar spool times with much better transient response because of the twin scroll, also the 40R's just kick ***.

Go to lancer register.co.uk or whateverr the UK sight is and search for MAD developmens, Shead knows his stuff.

Geoff never directly said 35R hta and twin scroll was a mismatch, i think he said mainly that the compressor/turbine wheels were a mismatch, IIRC.

In a previous discussion, someone demonstrated a 2.3L GT4088R with TS T4 0.94 A/R turbine housing that delivered 750+whp on Q16 and 40psi. Best of all, he needed no more than an 8000rpm shift point to deliver the goods. How? His boost log showed 40psi by 4200rpm, and something like 640 ft/lbs.

Can you equal those results? We don't know, but at least you know that it is within the capability of that turbo combination, so at least you can be assured that will not be the limiting factor.

Does that answer your question?
