Very cheap exhaust setup
Very cheap exhaust setup
I was thinking about getting a downpipe from road race engineering, then getting a dynomax bullet muffler and dumping it before it gets to the rear subframe.
The muffler itself is around $40, and my exhaust guy would weld it up there for $20.
Then I would just have him weld up the stock exhaust tip back where the cutout in the bumper is.
Stock appearing exhaust that would make great power.
What do you guys think.
I did the same thing on my LS1 camaro and picked up a tenth and 1mph at the track over a catback exhaust.

Buy a real exhaust..
If you are on a budget, try eBay.. there are generic 3" mandrel bend cat-back systems for cheap! At least they will be better (free flowing) than the non-mandrel bend that muffler shop can offer you.
ebay if you can live with a loud exhaust but there are some definate excellent flowing ones on the bay, build quality might not be there and won't last 6-8yrs like branded stuff.
and especially if you have a fabrication guy who can weld cheap make a bespoke system out of the ebay one still for alot less than a branded item.
i had full ebay TBE fitted and had a huge silencer box fitted in place of the test pipe which resulted in a very quiet exhaust. ebay TBE was $400 test pipe mod was $200
nice straight 3" with no reductions anywhere and nice angle exit so the pipe just before the back box doesn't need the 2 sharpe bends to get the exit right

Have heard great things about them too.
How is that not a real exhaust? Tell me.
There would also be no bends with this type of exhaust. It would be downpipe, muffler, turndown.
