Exedy twin disc clutch noise.
I had the exedy twin disc installed about a year ago. I'm used to its normal noisy chatter. But recently, when I slip the clutch for normal speed launches, I get a noise until the clutch engages. The lighter the throttle i use when slipping, the more often it makes this noise. The gentler I am, the more likley it is to make this noise. Now I can't really describe the noise because I've never heard anything like it berfore. It's definitely a lower octave, kind of "errrr" sound. Has anyone had similar experience? Should I be worried?

I have (basically) the exedy SD in my car and it has made that noise since day one when down shifting and letting out. The only way I can get it to stop for a while is to launch the dog **** out of it. Of course it comes back after a while.

I'm on my second exedy twin and both have done what you described... there is a solution though.
I have a twin disc in another car of mine and while doing research on it I came across a post from someone involded in the industry who is pretty well known. He suggested that if you put the car in 4th gear and rev it up like your trying to take off from a stop and let the clutch out that the noise will go away.
I tried it on my last clutch and it actually worked, totally stopped making noise. haven't done it to this one yet though. the logic behind it, from what I remember, is that the friction surfaces are uneven and this will smooth them out.

i'm using an orgura twin plate clutch and it makes that noise like 80% of the time. what sucks is mine is really loud and kinda embarrassing cause everyone around me can hear it. happens in half-clutch situtations like moving off or park..
i was told it was normal too..

I have about 70k miles on my Exedy twin disk. It used to make that noise all the time in the beginning, but now it rarely ever does it. To me, it sounded like a howling time of sound as I slip out the clutch. If I launch hard or fast, it doesn't do it.
I am with you on this one....It is going to make noises....this is completly normal.
i think i have the same problem....does it sound like this?
