Personally I do not see the need for the features within the scantool.
On an Evo 8-9 you really only need a simple scantool to read and reset codes. Such a cheap tool can be found in a CREADER unit.
Unless you are plan on opening up a business dedicated to resetting customer lights all the time, its overkill.
If you are considering using the data to tune the car with, the same data can be had for free from Mitsulogger or $35 for Evoscan,

well as i understand you can not pull codes for ABS and SRS with a standard OBD-II scan tool. the reason for this is so i can have a "all in one" tool not only for my evo but for my honda and mazda as well..

I do a lot of work for my friends who also own japanese vehicles and i have had an SRS light on in my Evo before.. the main question at hand though is do you think this scanner is acually capable of doing all 3 types of codes or do you think its bull?

Check this one out. I've used it and for the price you can't beat it. It fits in your pocket.

what was the result of this?
I tried using EVOScan to pull the ABS codes but it wouldn't connect.
I have an ABS & SES light on my 04. Want to pull the codes and see whats happening before I get too invasive.
