Hey everyone,


I have a problem. When I'm driving my car ( 2003 Evo 8 ) I hear a whining noise. I had my clutch replaced about 8 months ago so I'm not too sure what it could be. I think it is the Tranni but I'm not sure. Any help is appriciated.

T-Case whine maybe?

 

T-case wine if it starts to get louder as you speed up

 

Stock suspension, stock tires. and just bolt on stuff. here they are as follow ( intake, exhaust, downpipe, high flow cat. ) I have had most of these parts for over 2 years and i have never heared the whining noise this loud b4.

 

the transfer case? Mmm well the sound has gotten louder the usual. so does that mean my T-case is shot?

 

T-case is shot or on its way out.

that video was very helpful.... That's kind of what mine sounds like just not as bad. Well i hope it's the transfer case and nothing to do with the transmission.... thanks for the help everyone

 

T-Case going out slowly...sucks you probably aren't under warranty.

 

Does anyone have an idea how much it cost for T-case + install?

 

i think i read somewhere around 3k to get it rebuilt or something like that.

Since it looks like you have an 03, a new one it will be about $3000 plus the cost of labor for about what it would cost for a clutch. You may be able to get away for under 2000 installed if you change the ring and pinion only and the rest of the tcase is fine. It all depends on what the problem is. Since it looks like you have an 03 I would just get a new tcase with an lsd installed since the 03's come with open diffs in the tcase.
