Kinsler EVO intake manifold....rad

I'm not sure if anyone has posted these up or not, but I thought I would share. I don't browse here much other than the Evo X forums anymore, so I apologize if people have already seen them.

I put a set of these big Kinsler individual throttle bodies on my Honda and picked up silly power over my already large individual throttle bodies. I was excited when I saw this prototype for the EVO. It really adds another dimension of tunability in that you can specify the runner length, runner size, and add a secondary set of injectors. This prototype in the photos is CNC and the production unit will be cast, but let me know what you guys think.

If a big turbo car were to do some of the things we are doing with induction, intake ports, fuel pressure, and injector placement there is easily 100+hp available without touching the boost.

See the injector bung in the top of the plenum? On our naturally aspirated Honda, we bolted these on and picked up 17whp over an already really efficient setup. When we added the secondary injection before the runners we picked up another 15hp.

These can be setup with individual throttle plates in the runners like what I run, or with a conventional single throttle body.

Here are the Kinslers that I put on my car vs the ones that I replaced.

Before the secondary injection

On the dyno giving them a whirl.

Very nice! I looked into them years ago but nothing was in production. Glad to see things are on the move. They make very high quality products cant wait to see what they come up with for the evo.

Any more info ie..plenum size, runner length, degree entry into the cylinder head, price, estimated time of completion?

Thanks
Chris

I'm not a Kinsler rep so I'm not sure on the answers to your questions...I just worked with them for the setup on my car.

If they are anything like what they did for me, runner size and length is setup however you want it, degree of entry to the cylinder is customizable up to 15 degrees I think, and they are VERY close to being in production. I think you can buy the CNC pieces now (not sure on that) but they would obviously be more expensive than the finished cast pieces.

I deal with Scott at Kinsler if you want real answers. I just thought I would share the pics.

The front end of that drag car is an amazing shot of a well engineered setup designed as simply and cleanly as possible, everything from the fuel lines to the coolant lines seem to be laid out in the most efficient way possible!!!

More pics of the drag car, and thanks for the heads up !!

Thanks for the info i will give Scott a call. I think its a really bad time to enter the intake manifold scene for the EVO right now. Seems like all of a sudden the market is getting flooded. The good thing is that there workmanship, quality, and proven name will help allot.

OFF TOPIC:
Where are you located? I might be interested in your trailer for sale.

Thanks
Chris

I don't want to clog the EVO forum up with Honda goo...but here are a few since you asked. It is a 3/4 tube chassis Insight with an alcohol K24. Pretty fun car to drive actually.

Chris...I am in Indianapolis, IN. I have two people telling me it is sold, so I will know more by the end of the day. Feel free to call the number in my for sale ad if you have any questions about the trailer.

As for a bad time to enter the EVO market with a manifold...it is a bad time to be in the automotive performance industry period I don't see this product as being on a level playing field with anything else that is available. It isn't for the average consumer. You are getting into much more than an intake manifold let me tell you. When we first started talking with Kinsler, our pretty basic engine made 324 dynojet whp on the motor on pretty proven set of throttle bodies (356cfm of flow) and the car ran 10.0 @ 134mph. We were getting pretty close to that flow with our head and started wondering if we could make more power. We got with Kinsler and they designed something for us. We dyno'd the car, changed NOTHING other than bolting those suckers on there and 5 minutes later on the 1st pull it made 341 and more average power through the whole powerband. Over the next couple months Kinsler helped us make 365whp without ever touching anything other than the intake manifold and fueling on the car. Now with a bigger motor and some of our own fueling changes in the port, we are making another 40hp and the car is raw. It is so much more than getting a new intake manifold

Ahhh yes, I was wondering when/if pictures of this would leek out. I have been talking with Kinsler for quite a while on a Evo manifold and have seen the quick progress they have been making on it recently .

The Kinsler manifold is going to easily raise the bar for any intake manifold option we have for the Evo.

If your wondering, I plan to be testing one of these out in the near future!

Notice there are no welds

Currently I am using the Kinsler FPR and their VST system (think surge tank). All their products are superior to anything I have seen!

That upper must have been a project. Start with a billet, whittle everything out that not a plenum upper and there you have it... yea right. A lot of time went into that deal you and I both know that. Kinsler produces only quality components, I have used them for years. Congrats to them for stepping up and producing a real component not just another copy.

Shoot me a PM when you get a chance. Indy
